Hi everyone. My name is Sonia, I've been writing professionally for about 20 years and marketing for a dozen or so. I'm currently the director of customer comms. for what Dan Kennedy would call a "big dumb company" and looking for a social media gig, preferably with a smaller, smarter company. I'm also a blogger, a loooong time social media denizen, and a Squidoo cheerleader (I did an 8-week volunteer stint as a moderator for their user forum, which was both fun and exhausting.)
I've written professionally for technology companies, lenders, national parks, a sommelier education society, and right now most of my professional writing is about luxury travel. I also wrote a couple of novels way back when.
I have a little boy who is 2 1/2 and completely magnificent, and a husband who is also not too shabby.
I'm a Dan Kennedy customer but not fanatic, am thinking about trying out Ken McCarthy's stuff, and also like to study the "early masters" like Caples, Hawkins & Ogilvy. No, I don't own Breakthrough Advertising, but I guess I probably will one of these days.
I'm a major Seth Godin fan, and one of my proudest moments on the blog was when Seth linked to me. The giant flood of traffic was nice as well.
My specialities are social media and marketing to women and the affluent. Frankly I find the whole idea of marketing to women to be ridiculous, but basic common sense on that is so rare that I get to stand out as some kind of guru. As I like to say, "in the land of the clueless, the one-clued man is king."
Edited with P.S.: I know I'm way too chatty for a new user, I can't help it, I'm always this way on new forums. I am actually exercising superhuman restraint, for me.
