It looks as though you have both, Irish and Scottish blood.

Thanks Stephen,

But my birth name is actually "Hug" and not Moffatt.

My step father raised me most of my life and I just became
a Moffatt at a young age.

Michel,

To paraphrase the great philosopher and statesman Bill Murry in Stripes "We're all mutts. We've been kicked out of every decent country in the world."

Gee Stephen,

Sounds familiar. Never knew my own father - I knew he was Irish, but I always thought he was Irish-Italian. So I always thought I was part Italian - dark skin, etc. Then I discovered my father had no Italian at all. His mother was Irish, or possible English. It gets quirkier...

I found all this out via my uncle, whom I never knew I had. He told me a story about an anscester who was kidnapped by Indians and later returned unharmed. What's so strange about that? It mirrors a story in my wife's family history. She's of Irish descent. Thank God she came from an area far away from any family of my own!

Janet,

No doubt I'd have figured you for an Irish lass. I know a lot of Northern Italians can be fair of hair and skin so this may explain something. But that's not all...

Anyone checking out European history will soon get the idea that certain areas have been so overrun by so many invaders, it's hard to figure out who came from where without a scorecard.

Fun thread, thanks Michel!

God bless,

Andy
