Maybe he doesn't have any women over 40 on his list and he used 30s as a minimum so it didn't look like he was trying to hook 40 year old dudes up with 20 somethings.
| He has one less 40 something since Deb unsubscribed.
C'mawwwwn...admit it. He screwed up. Women are acutely aware of the whole age thing-- so there is no way this was going to sweep past anybody's radar unnoticed... | | | | | Master

He left room for interpretation on a sensitive subject.
Since women are typically more emotional creatures, he should have known that a good portion of his audience may react negatively.
Being a male, I tend to follow the creature of logic mold and leave open the possibility that he wasn't acting as a pig looking to exploit younger women to help satisfy the desires of a few older men on his list.
I'm not challenging that he pissed people off. I'm disputing whether those who are pissed interpreted his intentions accurately.
Which leads to his biggest screw up. Right or wrong, his lack of clarity affected a certain portion of his list in a way that will most likely affect his income. Regards,

| bingo!
And...I think there are parallel instances where men have a similarly strong emotional reaction--and wouldn't spend much time considering alternative "logical" explanations.
Say, for example, a singles entrepreneur networking retreat where the guys had to be 6 figure earners and no such criteria for the women. And it was a 50:50 list.
I can hear the screaming and yelling now....
I'm sure there are a few male emotional hot buttons where interpretation of a marketer's motives are based purely on feelings.... | | | | | Master

Here's my take....
It's not about being "emotional." If he's dealing with entrepreneurs in their 30s, so be it. No offense taken. However, when an event is open to men in their 30s and 40s but 39 is the cut-off for women, it doesn't sit right with me. If you want to set the age parameters--okay--but make it the same for both genders. Since when am I too old to hang out with my peers? My last boyfriend was seven years younger than me. In fact, I've dated several younger men.
Rick does have women on his list over 40; I'm 44, and I'm sure I wasn't the only baby boomer on the list.
I'm not going to lose sleep over this e-mail. It's just not cool, not cool at all.

Just by coincidence, this arrived in my mailbox a few minutes ago.... It's by Andy Rooney. As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting. Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her. Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, 'Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?', here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why ? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!
Andy Rooney is a really smart guy!

Femmes &Fellas, | Now that's gold!
As for the OP... sounds like a couple of horny men got together for a brainstorming session and hit the send button before they sobered up. | | | | | Super Moderator

Btw, be on the lookout for my brainstorming session with male marketers of all ages and DD-breasted women ages 18-22.
Because that's just a good a range as any...
P.s. Actual women may not show up as advertised. | | | | | Master

The horny old coot theory would seem a touch more realistic if it was 45 year old guys and gals under 25. Regards,
