Default Best Hotels in Vegas to Hold Seminars At? - 04-28-2008, 12:51 PM

Hi -

I'm going to start doing a lot more seminars in Las Vegas, and was wondering for you "seminar goers" or organizers, any preferences for which properties are best?

I just got a couple of *killer* domain names to promote trading seminars in Vegas, too..

Personally I love the Mandalay Bay, since I've spoken there for the Traders' Expo, and stay there whenever I visit, because it's great.. but I'm also looking for others, should be high-end or medium-type... I 've gotten a few recommendations - anyone else have favorites? I'm thinking Bellagio or Venetian or MGM might be good too since more centrally located on the strip... has to be on the main strip or w/in 1 block off strip... ideas?

of course, holding it at the Star Trek set would be very fun for fellow trekkers, but I think we're small in number... eg Star Trek: The Experience - it's a lot of fun... living long and prospering... (tried to get the wife to do our wedding vow renewal there but she said definitely no, sigh)..

thx,

k

I use the Platinum because it doesn't have a casino.

I've been to many hotels in Vegas and I discovered something at one of the first seminars I gave...

When you go to a hotel with a casino, they strategically place the casinos so you have to walk through them.

One guy lost five grand on the way in to the seminar.

That meant he had five grand less to spend on product.

So I hold seminar exclusively in hotels that don't have a casino.

Of course people can head over there but...

I don't have to hand money over to the competition.

The Platinum has great hotel rooms. They are huge.

Spa is great.

And it's basically two blocks to the Paris and Bellagio.

Peace.

Thanks, Harlan - great tip re casino floor/costing folks at expense of back of the room sales; hadn't thought about that. I'll check out the Platinum, thanks as always for the great tips.

-Ken

Since you like Mandalay Bay, it's right next to the Four Seasons which is expensive but does not have a casino.

Also different Strip hotels have different personalities.

I did not like what I saw at Excalibur. I would never hold a seminar there.

Peace.

I know a guy who holds two seminars a year at the Stratosphere. I've stayed there and it is a decent casino, never been for a seminar.

Best of luck.

Your concern for your patron is touching.

I've only been at one Las Vegas Hotel so far -- the Tropicana -- which I kind of liked. Too many mirrors in the rooms for my taste though (bad feng shui), but they had a section in the hotel that had fewer mirrors and they moved me there...

I liked the garden there, but hardly had a chance to actually spend time in it. Then again, I didn't go there for the garden -- the conference was great!

I'm looking forward to checking out the other hotels you all mentioned on future trips! And when I get ready to organize my own conference, I think I'll try to go for the Platinum

Elisabeth
