I've just bought the latest iMac (my first ever Mac), after succumbing to the advice of people who told me a Mac is way better than a PC. And I watched every one of those great Mac ads before deciding to take the plunge.

Well, after two days, I have to say, I'm in despair. I use quite a few Windows programs in my business. Everyone said, no problem, you can run Windows programs on a Mac. And that's true enough. But I just hate the whole system. I miss my old email program (Outlook) and I like using Microsoft Expression Web to build websites (it's better than Dreamweaver in my opinion). Basically, most of my work is done on Windows programs. So what the heck am I doing using a Mac?

My right shoulder aches from using the mouse (never had that with any other computer before).

All in all, I'm regretting my (expensive) mistake. I'm about to take my Mac back to the store and ask (shame-faced) if they will swap it for a PC.

Sorry Mac lovers. But Macs ain't for everyone.

I switched to mac and love it The linux style backend is brilliant and the whole thing just feels smoother.

Not sure how a mouse can make your shoulder sore... but I'm sure you could find another mouse that doesn't.

Still, they're not for everyone and if you're attached to your windows programs there's no real need to switch. Though I have to say I don't miss anything on windows, there are equivalent or better programs available on mac for just about everything.

Last time I used a mac was to write my master's thesis on Kaizen back in 1991. I still have a headache from the postcard-sized screen...

"Power PC" user here, I like to build my own with Asus server mobos and Lian Li cases and the rest of it. PCs are great. Macs have a loyal following, but after looking at them in an apple store, I said to myself, yes it's slick and has nice shiny plastic, but like the ipod, there's better alternatives at much better pricing available out there. Building one's own pc systems - that's nirvana.

I've got lots of widescreen monitors, dualcore system handbuilt from newegg.com components and it works great! I've built dozens of my own pcs over the years (I'm a trader), it's fun being a computer geek, as one hat to wear.. the reward is, you get the best systems available that work great -- kind of like Hans Solo working on the Millenium Falcon, tinkering under the hood and adding powerups..

Dave, yeah I know- the mac vs pc debate .. a lot of graphic designers (most in fact) use macs... but I'm a holdout... I like my multiple monitors and the rest w/my pc..

I am a PC guy all the way. I don't like Macs at all.

As rabid a following there is for Mac fans, there are many times more PC users so Mac people are definitely very much in the minority.

I'm with you... PC all the way. I can't get used to that mac interface. As "intuitive" as they claim it is... it's not intuitive to me at all.

Give me a solidly built pc any day.

Hey man, sorry to hear about your experience there. I got my first mac last year after almost 20 years of pc use and it did take a few hours to get used to, but I can tell you I spent much longer than that trying to get used to Win95 and XP when that first came out. (I've tried dealing with Vista, and hoping I never have to fully get rid of XP)

At first I was definitely going to dual boot and run Windows on the mac, but after using it for a bit and finding some programs comparable to the windows ones I used, I decided against it - at least until I upgrade to a larger HD. I still use my PC with my old copy of Dreamweaver and Photoshop on it, but if I didn't do any gaming and like to build my own PCs occasionally - I'd probably be a full time mac user.

It might be just my experience - but overall I'd say the Mac is more reliable and less troublesome with hardware and software than any of the pc's I've used.
