Wow, this PC vs Mac is almost as heated as long copy vs short copy.

I find it very funny.

While I have owned a Mac in the past and been a member of the Honorable Order of Mac Owners(look for he acronym) I hang with PC now.

Yes, PC is more likely to be targeted by malware but that is because there are so many more of them than Macs.

This is a fun read.

I was just looking at some Macs at the store earlier today. I have used a PC forever, but I hear everyone saying Mac is better for IM; and at a conference I was at recently, Jason Moffatt said that it is good to have both... so I am considering it.

Your story scares me away a little bit, but I will just have to use one of my friend's Mac some and see how I feel.

LOL! To quote Cuba Gooding Jr. in Jerry McGuire when he asked Jerry if he'd had "the talk" with his new wife, "That's a reason. It ain't sexy... but it's a reason."

Jason is a fantastic guy but jeezus, everything that springs forth from his mouth is not "word of God" yanno?

I can name you a dozen millionaire marketers that haven't EVER owned a Mac.

The way to decide if you need a Mac isn't whether or not Jason says you need one. It's, "what the hell are you doing with your computer and would it be done better or more efficiently on a Mac?"

Frankly, if you're not in Hollywood or print publishing, I wouldn't even consider it.

I guess I did word that wrong... It is not just b/c Jason said so. Many different marketers have talked about Macs being better for us and in my mind for some reason I always thought it was either one or the other and no in between.

Then Jason said "Use both" and I thought to myself, "Damn, I never thought of it that way before!"

And it isn't like I was planning on buying one just because of this... I was considering picking up a new computer soon anyway.

I bought a MAC laptop 3 years ago and had it on ebay 2 days after I bought it. I hated it.

Now we're all PC based, it's so much easier. And we do a lot of video, so we just have a quad-core beast of a machine and have Adobe Production Studio for all editing, etc.

The type of PC you have doesn't matter, it's all personal preferance. At the end of the day only about 2% of the people will actually take action and build a business online. Buy what ya like and keep it moving, it truly doesn't matter.

I use a Mac because it does make copywriting easier with "Word for Mac" (with lots more features than Microsoft Word).

Also not being "technical" in any way whatsoever, buying a Mac is easy - there are basically 6 or so machines to choose from - rather than figuring out the best of the zillions of PC brands and choices.

The other huge benefit is that the OS on Macs is much more reliable and stable.

Also with a Mac - you get amazing support by telephone (at least you do in the UK).

And you have Apple Stores - with staff who are incredibly helpful and friendly - and don't mind one bit if you're technically "dense" like me.

Amazingly they can explain the technical stuff in a way I can understand.

With Macs - you don't have anything like the hassle with hackers, viruses and all the online grief.

The only thing I wish is - that the really good "copywriting" software stuff was mac compatible.

Yea I know you can use "Parallels" and turn your Mac into a PC - but the programme takes ages to load (I guess a Mac is a Mac and a PC is a PC).

So all you "copywriter" software programmers - why not increase your sales by 10% and make your stuff Mac friendly?

Anyway the upshot to all this is - just use the computer you are most happy with.

And remember no matter how good you think it is (Macs or PC's) - eventually it will "crash and burn"

So always, always back up all your stuff.

Just an FYI, I have PC's and I never have hassles with viruses, hackers, etc. Also, Mac's are WAY over-priced.

Hmmm. The last time I used a MAC was over 10 years ago!!

I remember hating the way it worked. Having only one mouse button was horrible!

Have to say though that there must be something about it that has kept it around, competing with the likes of the 'zillions of PCs' out there.

Not for me. Think it's about personal choice and preferences.

As I said what is important - is to use the computer that YOU are happy with.

Doesn't matter of it's a PC or a Mac.

It's what's best for you.

I hated that too - but my new MacBook Pro has "two fingered" action which is like a right click. I like that better now.

The reason I got a mac was because my screen got cracked on my PC laptop. It was like $500 for replacement, and it was a couple years old and I needed to shell out another $150 for a battery.

Now I use both, but I bought an auxillary monitor for the PC.

I find that I can't get away from the PC completely, because I have so many helpful little tools that I've already paid for and installed on the PC - but there are no versions for mac yet.

There are also some big tools, like Camtasia - which i don't think are on mac yet. So I don't know if I'll ever be able to switch completely.

I also don't want to shell out the hundreds of dollars for the mac versions of MS Office.

However, for day to day use, I like my mac better. it's cooler, lighter, and does 85% of what I need.
