If I understand it right (and that's a big IF), that's because of how idiot-proof the Mac is. There's not much room to fool around. Like the difference between Linux and Windows. I love Windows, because it's so much more reliable than Linux. But a coder would tell me that it's just that I don't know how to use it (it's the user, not the software).

I got my fill of Apple when my brother was showing me his i-pod. Sure--it sounded great. But then when he tried to put some of his songs on my PC, it wouldn't work. A very simple operation if you ask me, but one they took extra steps to make sure wouldn't happen.

He also showed me how i-tunes had totally rearranged his music folder and had fogged up his file/folder structure.

I'll never touch i-self. I'm a PC guy all the way.

Building one's own pc systems - that's nirvana.

I've got lots of widescreen monitors, dualcore system handbuilt from newegg.com components and it works great! I've built dozens of my own pcs over the years (I'm a trader), it's fun being a computer geek, as one hat to wear.. the reward is, you get the best systems available that work great -- kind of like Hans Solo working on the Millenium Falcon, tinkering under the hood and adding powerups..

I'm not quite the power user you are, Ken. But for the past 10 years or so I've built all of my own systems. I buy most stuff from Newegg as well and I'm about to build a new system as this one is now quite dated.

In fact, I already bought a new dual-core Intel processor from Newegg (E6600). Even though there are much better CPU's out now, I always try to stay in the "value" range when it comes to computer parts.

I appreciate when you post reviews on hardware - like your recent post about external hard drives. I read that kinda stuff. I'm nerdy that way.

My problem isn't so much with the PC as it is with Microsoft. Microsoft is still monopolizing (is that a word?) the marketplace. The problem I have is they are forcing everyone else to do their thing (spend a lot of money without a benefit) to buy new software, forced partnerships (they run everyone else out of business), and all the spyware they install and then of course the problem with it crashing.

If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have any problem. It seems to me that Apple is more geared to provide a good experience using their system as opposed to Microsoft forcing you to use theirs or else... and to hell with actually helping you have a good experience.

And what OS choices do you have with a MAC? Come to think of it, what software choices do you have with quicktime?

Why did you listen to what others say, when you should have used commonsense and intuition (oops I forgot - that's for women). Anyway, you should have realized MAC is inferior and will always be that way.

I used to work on PCs and MACs, and found MACs broke down faster and more frequently.

Don't ever let anyone tell you what to buy. You will end up on the losing end when you do. Study the market first to determine what is better. Than make your decision based on your research.

Dave,

I agree. I hate MACs and when I used the demo of Expression Builder, I found it so hard to work with and figure out that I went back to using FrontPage 2002 verison, which I had used for years. FrontPage may have its problems, but at least it works and is easier to use. However, Microsoft discontinued using it, so very soon I'll have to use something else.

Montello, I agree with you. When I tried to use a MAC once time, I found it hard to use it. I couldn't understand the file structure and the way files were opened and ran.

Give me a PC any day of the week and I'll be happy.

RAvedesigns, you've got to be kidding me. There is no way that a MAC is more reliable and less troublesome than a PC. The reverse is actually true. I was an IT specialist for 14 years and worked on many different platforms, and I'll tell you truly, MACs gave me more trouble than any platform. And that is a fact.

The only reason Apple Computer and Steve Job is still operating is because of the Ipods.

Vince, I'm actually in favor of monpolizing. If I were to start a business, I would make sure it is the only one in town so I could get all the business. This way I could get rich quickly.
