And this brings up a good point for any copywriter or graphic designer, and that is they should become an affiliate or reseller of at least one good printer and mailer. |
Actually, we resell the services of several trade printers -- and it's a great profit-center for our marketing business. Our clients still get prices well below what they could get themselves, plus our services, and we make a nice profit on printing. I couldn't agree more! For our clients, it's more of a complete "done for you" service than anything else -- they don't want to bother with any part of the process, and trust us to look after it all.
I was silly in my early marketing business days -- I'd pass on printing directly at cost, even though I was getting it for way less than normal. Partly that was a cash-flow problem as a new business (and with some big client print jobs), and I really only had two good printers to work with. Nowadays, the printing is much more viable with a profit margin added in, as it should be in a business environment when we deliver value.
What I meant about the masked affiliate link is
in this sticky. I have used affiliate links too in posts -- and find it's better to point it out.
On a slight printing tangent, I did notice yesterday a small sheet of craft labels that had been inkjet printed and would return $1440 for a $55 box of labels -- plus about $30 in printing/finishing costs -- good to keep our eyes open for other sorts of printing we hadn't previously looked at!
