My goodness, but those sites do take the prize, no doubt about it, for being butt ugly awful. Only a pro could do something that bad. By pro I mean someone who knows how to work with scripts but has no clue otherwise. As for us amateurs, I humbly submit my own site as a contender. It's been cleaned up a bit recently, but it still looks like a stepchild, including the URL. Still I'm rather proud of the opening line, designed to appeal to my targeted audience. Kelley, Here's how to get a great looking website for next to nothing in about a day. 1) Get your own domain name - about $5 - $15 a year from companies like godaddy, dotster or domain direct. 2) Get a $5/month hosting account from someone like hostgator, or anyone that offers wordpress as a one click install. 3) Install wordpress on your new server 4) Get a free template from someone like Wordpress Themes - Wordpress HigherGround Theme is my personal favorite - and upload to your server to use in wordpress 5) Tweak some of the images or colors to make yourself a unique design (or ask me and I'd be happy to help with that) 6) Login to wordpress and add your content and images. 7) Sit back and admire your new, attractive website!
