Default If you like Office OneNote ... then you're gonna LOVE this! - 12-10-2007, 03:17 PM

Since Michel first turned me on to Microsoft Office OneNote, I've been a massive user ... but one thing has ALWAYS bugged me.

You couldn't SORT the notes alphabetically.

Well, now you can. I just found a "PowerToy."

Daniel Escapa's OneNote Blog : Sort Pages powertoy

Enjoy...

And thanks Michel - OneNote has been a super research, storage and recovery tool.

Okay, what am I missing? In version 2003, I've found it too short on features to do much word processing, too inflexible to be an efficient multi-leveled filing system, and it insists on eating up RAM while sitting idly in your system tray.

Is the latest system somehow more workable, or have I been not using it as it was intended?

So I'm not the only one who fell in love with onenote.

I don't pay much attn to the "memory" / processor issues ... I've got a baby monster for a laptop, and it seems to handle onenote without a hitch.

I'm guessing I only use about 10% of onenote's capabilities.

But ... personally I'm gaining benefit from it as a research (grab and store) tool for projects. Example: I have a "notebook" in there with tons and tons and tons of research on "Brain Trusts" "Masterminds" "Peer Advisory" etc etc etc -- all is being used for content creation and sales copy for "The Brain Trust" which launches in Jan.

Yesterday, I had about 20 min to kill while waiting for my wife in the car, I popped open my laptop and read more depth in that specific notebook. Making notes along the way, etc.

I use it for 3 or 4 other things, but the most value I get right now is the research/storage.

If someone is "sharing" notebooks (with staff, partners, etc) would love to know how that's working out for you. That's next for me since we now have multiple people collaborating on projects, etc.

Hey JP,
You gave me an idea. Instead of downloading hundreds of pages on my hard-drive, when I see sites I like, and loading up my "BookMarks" so they extend beyond the reach of the browser, why not keep track of them using OneNote? I'll give this a shot.

Thanks.

Try using folders in your favorites.

For swiping websites -- snagit is better. You can create a scrolling, full length graphic of the site.

I use onenote for all sorts of things, from a personal journal to keeping a dream home file with clippings and ideas. I love how easy it is to organize topics. It is a great tool for keeping a swipe file organized.
