Michael, I don't use 1 Shopping Cart, but I'm wondering if there is any way you can add text and a link next to the box (make sure it opens in a new window).

If you can, let your visitors know that they won't get a discount, but will receive a free bonus for entering the code.

Don't have a coupon code yet? No problem.

Simply click this link and you'll be instantly taken to a special page where you can get one. It's fast, it's easy and you get a nice bonus to my product.
If you do this the right way, it might actually help increase your conversions instead of decrease them.

Hey, if they decide they don't want the bonus, at least they won't feel cheated out of the price for your original product.

I feel the same way.

Me too. Why not?

You know, its geared towards people who are in too much of a rush. They look at the coupon code insert. They will wish they had one then move on to go buy.

I get that alot. *grinning*

It just seems there is a psychological mindframe behind coupons. Too complex for me to try to write it out, what I think.

The only psychological mindframe behind coupons is "I want one".

I used to get people emailing me asking for a coupon code.

And the people that did have one would often not be able to type it into the box without errors.

They're way more hassle than they're worth.

I think this was supposedly so they could "look up your account" if you already purchased from them, but I always thought it a good way to go back and contact your clients that loaded up your shopping cart and then abandoned it for some reason.
Thanks, this is an idea worth checking out. I think I'll want to test this to see if it stops people from going to the shopping cart. I would think it wouldn't stop them if they are sincere about purchasing; because if they are going to buy something, they probably know they will have to give up their email at the P.O.P. (In which case, stopping at an email page wouldn't make sense.)

But how would I interpret it if more people would stop and not continue at the email page? That they weren't serious buyers? That they were just tire kickers? Any ideas, folks?

Still, it's worth testing, just to see if I can get more email addresses.

Yep, I've gotta admit I'll Google for a code if the box is there -- wondering why I'm being dudded out of extra money when others are buying the exact same thing for less money.

Without the code, my value equation is reduced -- and sometimes I'll justify NOT making a purchase because I'm not getting the best price, and the sale is lost.

Yes, I feel very cheated!

In addition.... My sales are down OVER 50% through the entire month of December, and started declining rapidly in November. The changes have definitely taken a major turn for the worse.

Then to top it all off they billed me $99 instead of $79 for the month. I guess they feel they can just bill your credit card an extra $20 if they feel like raising their prices!

Oh, but they justified their actions by writing back an email saying "we emailed you about the price increase!" OH, ok then sorry!

Folks, I'm just about done with 1ShoppingCart.com
I'm quickly looking for alternatives, and refuse to pay a bully money just because they think they are needed so badly.

There is a word for this. It's called GREED.

If anyone knows any good shopping cart companies out there, please let me know a.s.a.p.

Warm Regards,

Terrance
