Default remember "Searching for Bobby Fisher... - 08-11-2007, 12:51 PM

"Searching for Bobby Fisher" is a true story about a six-year-old chess protogé. When the movie ended I wanted to know what happened to him.

The kid's name is Josh Waitzkin.

It turns out he he just had a book published called THE ART OF LEARNING.

http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=a...1&a=0743277457

On pg 107 Josh writes, "In order to grow he must give up his current mindset."

On pg 98 Josh writes about how he learned to learn through osmosis.

On pg 9 he discusses navigating egomaniacal instructors.

Who else would be interested in a teleseminar with Josh teaching us about how to learn? How to learn faster, better, truer to our authentic voice.

please write a note here if you are interested in hearing him on a call.

thank you!

Ben
p.s. does the call need to be free since I posted it here? Otherwise, am I breaking a spam policy if I do the call and charge? please let me know the ettiquette here. I will oblige this domo.

Hi Ben,

Since you're just asking for feedback, I don't think this qualifies as Member content just yet. If you're ready to do the teleseminar and you want to promote it, then that would be the place to go.

I'm intrigued by the idea. For a minute, I thought you were trying to interview the real Bobby Fischer (info here: Bobby Fischer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

This guy seems equally intriguing (and is probably an easier guy to keep a conversation with )

Cheers,
Erik

...
dude, we're in the "Off-Topic Discussion" section not the Member's Content. you gotta learn your way around the ground level of the matrix, you know, you quit running into invisible walls that you forgot were there

this is basic, real basic, information architecture

Author's Business Plan

you want a swipe file that worked?

Josh,

Your book is fantastic.

I'd like to do a telephone interview
with you and have 100+ listeners.

I've had as many as 400 show
up for a live learning call but
I can't promise that many.

In what ways might this be
appealing? I chose Bennington
College largely because they
offered a course in the Tao in
English, taught by a historian
of Chinese language, a professor
who was living in exile.

My email promoting our call
would go to 23k folks and I bet
I could get your Amazon rating
under 500 again...

I tried submitting info to your
online appearance or speaking
engagement form, but your
server appears to be down.

Hoping this is appealing.

Sincerely,

Ben Mack

lol,

Ben,

I was saying that what you're posting isn't 'Member Content' so you're right to post it here in Off-Topic for now. No disagreement

Back to cruising the Matrix,
Erik

I'm confused. Is this the kid that played Bobby Fischer
in the movie?

I'm totally interested, but totally confused at the
same time.

Jason, first off thank you for the link in your thread of empowering independence and championing a woman's search for freedom. You are
a good man.

Sorry for any confusion.

I've been emailing Josh Waitzkin, the chess prodigy.

please see two posts down over here...
Author's Business Plan

at the above link you can see:
1) the DVD for Searching For Bobby Fischer

2) the book the movie was based on, of the
same title. the book Searching For Bobby Fischer
was written by Josh's father

3) the book that josh just published

Jason, maybe you can think of a better way to get the biggest audience possible for Josh.

I gave him a choice of...

Josh,

We could do a call in as soon as two
weeks from Saturday, or in 4 weeks
if you wanted to charge participants to
listen in...

I'd like you to choose between three
models I can use to promote you &
your book:

1) You and I do a FREE teleseminar
on a Saturday (approx 60-90 minutes)
and those on the call are given the
assignment to buy your book prior
to the call. Should be able to get
about 100 folks on the call

or a paid call...
2) You and I do a $47 teleseminar
on a Tuesday or Thursday evening
(approx 60-90 minutes) and those on
the call are sent your book prior to the
call--> The $47 goes to the affiliates
and to the purchase price of the
book. Should be able to get about 200
folks on the call

3) We do a $97 teleseminar
on a Tuesday or Thursday evening
(approx 60-90 minutes)
48.50 goes to the affiliates
and we split $44.50 ($4 processing fee)
[participants are encourage to buy
book as "homework" for the call]
should be able to get 200 folks on call

I'm excited by your willingness to play.

Your book deserves as broad an audience
as we can muster.

I'm open to whatever format you would
prefer... from me asking you questions
to your giving a lecture.

Whatever you're most comfortable with

Cool dude

Ben

Jason, is there anyway we might turn this into a fundraiser and build her a list. You have any better ideas?

you read what Josh wrote back to he over on like page 5 or so of Ben Mack Live dot com.
