"You'll never know the depth of love a mother has for her child."
Puke.
Or the lack thereof.
My son hasn't seen his mother since January 2002.
You can't explain to a child that his mother wants nothing to do with him. Mother's Day isn't a happy time for him or kids just like him.
It takes more than donating an egg to be a mother.

Hey Steve,
That was a beautiful movie!
Thanks for sharing.
Mike,
I'm sorry your old lady seems to not care, but that
shouldn't ruin the day for millions that do.
Maybe the lack of having a mother will teach your
son to choose a better partner when it comes time
for him to start a family. I'm sure the last thing
he would want to deal with is having kids who don't
have a mother.
And deep down, I'm sure your sons mother does
love her kid, but is just very lost and needs a bit
of help.
I didn't get to see my father for most of my entire
life, and I know that it eats away at him everyday.
He's a drunk, selfish, and a host of other things, but
deep down I understand he is just lost and needs a
bit of help and love.
Therefore, I don't hold any grudges against him even
if he was the worst father imaginable. I hold a place
in my heart for the guy in hopes that one day he truly
sees the light, and I'll never give up on the guy regardless
of his past history.
It's obvious you hold a bit of animosity over the
situation, but maybe one day you can see it for what it is,
and pull something good from the ordeal.
I don't want to butt into your personal life, but don't ever
give up on the lady. She may be coming around the mountain
sooner then you think!

Thanks, Jason, for your comments.
What is particularly hard is taking him anywhere on Mother's Day. Constant reminders of her absence...including thoughtless people who ask him where she is.
My point is that it isn't a Hallmark moment for everyone...nor should there be an assumption that all mothers (or fathers for that matter) love their kids.
Hope you enjoyed the day.

Jason and Dale: Thanks very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. My wife and I were getting a bit choked up watching it and we've been passing it around to our friends.
Mike: I'm really sorry to hear about the behavior of your child's mother. That really sucks. And, you are absolutely right... it takes far more than an egg to be a mother.
