Default Ok I'm about to leave this forum permanently - 04-07-2007, 11:56 AM

Ok here's a concern of mine.

I posted quite a few tips in a good-natured effort to help you all.

It seems that lately, a few people here continue to post negative things about me and openly debate/disagree with me, for no good (or valid) reason.

I've been a valued member here for years, and a few new people are starting to attack me. I would've preferred to see posts like "hey thanks for the tips Ken, etc".

If this doesn't stop, I'll need to withdraw my participation from the board here permanently (with rare exceptions), like I did at the WF.

Please explain. I'm a millionaire world-class famous marketer, but when I post on forums, I get headaches and disagreements from some people. That's probably why you don't see other well-known guys post often on forums.

My advice to myself is, focus my energy on customers instead of giving away free advice on forums.

Can someone explain why the attack posts lately here? It's not appreciated, and it's discouraging. I'm one of the guys who "makes it" big, and I'm here as a free resource. But I'm about to disappear for good, because I don't need the negative posts and attacks from people here.

Please explain.

thanks,

Ken Calhoun, Pres.

I have a legendary client list, beating most other copywriters/IM people online, for Fortune 500 work:
Ken Calhoun - Here's a List of Former Clients of my Company, Hawaii Business Training Group

And I'm about to disappear permanently from this forum, unless I get some reassurance that the attacks posts will cease and desist immediately. And yes I'm serious.

You can learn how to be very wealthy from me, or you can choose to have me leave here forever. Please answer. I don't have time for this, from several of you.

P.S. And unlike others, when I say I'll leave a forum, I do. There's no drama. Just a professional, intelligent request for some of the people here to stop posting negative things here about me, and on my threads. "If you wallow with pigs you get muddy" seems to fit here, and I'm about to lift myself out of this muck. Moderators/whoever, please advise.

There are many other forums I should be focusing my energy on, in my market niches. I'm here out of being a colleague/friend to many of you. But lately the immaturity of some people is driving me away permanently.

I've gotten emails from 4 other top marketers (you'd recognize their names instantly), advising that I shouldn't be on public forums anyways, and rather to mastermind with a small group of other 7-figure marketers, vs being open to the bs that less successful people will throw around in public venues. I am starting to believe that that's correct. So I'm about to go, and unlike others when I say it I mean it.

What's the consensus here?

Unless I get confirmation that all attack/negative posts will cease immediately, and that everyone will behave in a more professional, focused, supportive manner - I leave here for good.

My time and expertise is simply too valuable to waste energy on debates and defending myself from a handful of unsuccessful "general public" people here. And I think I have my answer. I'm world-famous, published internationally, very successful. And I'm trying to help you all. But I am being driven away, by the immaturity of a few. Please advise. I value being a part of this community, but my peace of mind is more valuable.

The quality of this board, like others, has deteriorated with the joining of a handful of people this past 12 months, and I am sad to see the degeneration of the dialogue, due to the immature/attack posts of several people here. So it's either they go or I do. I'm too valuable a resource to wallow in the muck.

Speak up, folks - and have a great Easter weekend! I'm off to a weekend party now. And heck, maybe you folks don't want me here. Look at the "tone" of the forums I leave. They sink. Your call. This is my only post, final, on this matter. I won't engage in a debate/dialogue.

Speak up, and I'll make up my mind after I read 15-20 posts on the topic, and let you all know my decision early next week. Thanks for your support, those who are my friends.

I used to be part of a forum (different topic) and most of the "veterans" turned on me and would attack all the time. I left and joined a forum where I do not know much, but need to learn.

I love advice... I really love free advice!

I think you are being very dramatic. I think it is puzzling you are pushing your creds on us.

If you have it going on so much, why do you feel compelled to post and/or debate your status? Why bicker or need that feeling of being superior.

If I had what you claim to have, I would leave and never look back. The perception of you on this forum seems to have turned (I don't really know why) I think you will not be able to reinvent yourself to your high status in some of our minds, ever.

But your post right here almost pushes my perception more in the direction it was in an hour ago. I think "big baby". I have nothing against you what-so-ever. I am sure you could show me many great things...

Perception is reality. Facts take a back seat.

I will not mess with you if you stay. (if you give me some advice on my postcard )

I do think that was kind of a childish post. I mean I know you have a lot to offer, and I appreciate it, as I'm sure many people here do. But I don't see what good your post does.

As far as the negativity...hmm I do see what you mean. I was out of the loop for a long time. I Kind of put copywriting on hold for a while. Now that I'm active again, I can see a definite change here.

I'm not sure exactly which posts you're talking about. I saw that Mr. Subtle had given you kind of a hard time in the computers thread. I've been on the recieving end of his sarcasm too. And of course, he's encouraged by some of the others.

You must realize that Mr. Subtle has a few problems with technology. He's all wierd about it too, and if you're an online person, he seems to despise you. I've been told that Mr. Subtle is JayKay. I would say that from the quality of his positive suggestions that this is true...but I'd also say that there's something of a split personality between the two. The JayKay I saw 9 months ago was always helpful...and rarely attacked a person. Mr. Subtle seems more like a postal employee who's paid to discourage ANYONE from using online marketing methods.

There are a few 'yes sirs' here that tag along behind Mr. Subtle, so if he attacks you, it's likely they will too, or do more to encourage him. Michael Winicki is one of them, and maybe a few more.

All in all, I think you ought to just ignore these things. Aside from what you bring to the table, I'm sure you take a lot away with you too...and that's the real reason to be here.

Ken,
If I had a dollar everytime someone ridiculed me and slammed me on this board, I "might" be as rich as you are.

I have one particular stalker that continually follows me around like a lost puppy dog and tries to undermine everything I have to say, but I know this guy has some sort of brain damage or mental instability...

In other words...

It's NOT my problem... it's his!

Another thing...
I'm sure that the bigger you get, the more you'll be criticised. It just comes with the territory, so take their opinions with a grain of salt.

Don't let this eat you up Ken. There are some of us here who still love you and appreciate your input on this board.

From what I have been reading, you're getting slammed because many think you are bragging about how much you have.

Many of the "have nots" don't like to hear this and many of the "have nots" will never "have" because of this mindset.

Just look at it as their problem, not yours.

Ken,

I'm not sure why you would expect people to agree with you because you are successful. This is what you seem to be saying in your original post in this thread. I don't think there is anyone in this whole wide world who is so successful that they still don't have things to learn, even from relative beginners.

The Bible says it well: Pride goeth before a fall. The ancient Greeks called it hubris. It's universal wisdom.

If people disagree with you, then there are two possible reasons:

1)It is a legitimate difference of opinion. This is a very good and healthy thing. I have a lot of differences with various people on this forum, but when it's clear that it comes from a different way of seeing the world, that doesn't bother me much. Quite the contrary, I do my best to learn from this, and I think the community as a whole benefits from differences of opinion and viewpoint.

2)People are being nasty or argumentative for personal or emotional reasons. This is normal, but not a good thing. A month or two ago, Michel had to speak up and put forth more explicit guidelines to try to head this off. If you feel people are breaking those guidelines, then tell the moderators where and how and they may be able to scold individuals into line. That would be a positive contribution to this community.

Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between #1 and #2 because there is a legitimate difference of opinion but the emotional tone is a bit heated up.

In any case, it seems that you need a "time out" from whatever is bothering you here.

Sincerely,
Marcia Yudkin

Ken,

It sounds to me like you are blowing your own horn and bragging too much about yourself. This is a turn off for many people. I know in my discussions with people that when they read posts from people like you, they wonder how in the world did that person become so rich and successful with his attitude. You have the same atttiude and it really stinks.

If you want to help people, that is fine, but don't rub people's noses in it. Some people on this board work hard for a living and do quite well. Frankly, I don't think you are as successful as you claim. You are just trying to make yourself look better than what you really are.

Frankly, I could care less whether you stay or go. I don't want to hear or read what you have to say if you degrade people in the process. That shows a complete lack of professionalism. By the way, I know people who are richer and more successful than you, so I wouldn't brag if I were you. Be grateful for what you have, but don't brag about it, don't show arrogance (which is what you are doing), and most definitely, don't degrade others with their right to speak and make a living.

Maybe you are to be more humble and learn a thing or two yourself.

Harry

Hi all.

I have to say some words here; I enjoy to read for you all and I have a great respect for all.

some time there is an apparent arrogance and a hidden modesty.

I enjoy modesty.

some time modesty is subtle too.

when some one who claim him self a successful rich person come as any one to ask for help he begin to be bigger for me.

however he is successful, Mr KEN asked so many time for critics and posted his concerns in the critics request this is a proof of modest and respect of others.

when someone ask for your opinion he show you a respect.

I agree Mr Ken that you contribute in this board, but honestly what make you special for me is the fact that however you claim to be successful you show us the respect asking us a critic.

it happened so many time, and some time I asked my self : how can I made a critic on his stuff.

but you give me an opportunity by making a public request and this is a form of a contribution and respect.

honestly I smiled reading this thread but in the positifs way, because this thread show what importance you give to us, and what we mean for you.

we can be rich successful and famous and still be sensible, I respect that.

some may see this thread as an arrogant cry, some just like a lost person asking for help.

and I respect that.

to resume because I talk so much, this thread show how you enjoy beeing here, and for my self my replay show how I enjoy to read for you.

so let read more.

PS: I am an impulssif gay sorry if I was out.

The beginner.

Although some may not be familiar with your successes, I am and I respect your presence and the knowledge you contribute. You are amongst friends and I'm sure you know that.

Please don't let a couple of bad apples create the idea that this isn't a forum of friendly, professional and inspiring individuals. 90% of em are. I hope you remember that the few bad ones that respond don't make you forget the majority of people people who simply read and enjoy. Your positive energy is most welcome by the 90%! (Me included)

I say we boycott Mr (not-so) Subtle. (he may fall into the "have nots" catergory )

He is the local ball breaker on here

Honestly, let's move on to some interesting topics... this is a downer.

This is hysterical! Keep it going.

Sorry, I'm too new to take a stand, but this is better than prime time!

Will Ken Leave?

Will Subtle mysteriously disappear?

As the war wages on will there be bloodshed, or just red ink?
