Default Is Imitation Flattery? - 01-31-2007, 04:47 AM

Quick question for the big dogs...

I have been Master Minding with a few marketers who are levels above me in this game...part of my cherished "up line".

Standard procedure to pick someone you like and learn by them from emulation...right?

Is it flattery when your copy and ideas turn up in their sales campaigns...when you do not get any money, credit, or even particulary good treatment socially?

I keep coming across these "emotional issues" during the course of my rise to marketing fame and fortune.

Would you be flattered and take it as a sign of your eventuall success?

Would you feel like you are being short-changed and your real talents are being ripped off?

Thanks,

Chris Titan

I look at it this way .. in the category of "some things you can't control" , let's put imitation .. if you're successful at something, there will be imitators .. that being the case, why not make the best of things and feel flatered by it .. beats running around with a sour feeling at all those imitators making a penny from your hard-earned dime ..

Just my gut reaction

When I see people copying my underground email tactics
that I invented it makes me smile!

I hope it makes them a ton of cash too

Emulation is fine, but at some point you need to put
a dash of authenticity to your marketing.

Perhaps it's just a difference of perception, if someone is really using your ideas, they may think they've provided value to you also. I assume you're masterminding because you're getting ideas too. Do you clear it with the person from whom you're "swiping" before you implement a marketing ® idea or copy ® approach?

I'd chalk it up under "dues paying" But I'd also be reevaluating to see if the value exchange was still worthwhile. You have freedom of association.

And I'd make sure this story made it's way into my self-promotion; changing the names to protect the guilty, of course.

A.
