Default Can you recommend a great NLP book? - 09-29-2006, 08:40 AM

I'm interesting in learning more about NLP and how it applies to selling. There are so many books available, but I want to start with just one. Which book would you recommend?

The books on NLP I've seen all seem to be poorly written. Some of them are basically just transcripts of live NLP seminars, and a lot of the books seem to be geared towards therapists who are planning to use NLP with their clients -- doesn't seem to be too many general-purpose books for the layperson.

I wrote a short, general introduction to NLP as an e-book a few months ago -- if anyone here wants to download it and give me some feedback, feel free:

Check out Introduction to NLP by Joeseph O'Connor. It touches most of the bases and is a pretty damn good primer for someone with no experience with NLP. It covers the bulk of whats out there, and is pretty accessible as opposed to some of the types of books Ken was mentioning (there is a lot of good stuff in these ones too, if you spend the time to study the structure of the languaging they use. Kind of like studying a sales letter of one of the masters of copywriting)

I've found "Expanding Your World: Modeling the Structure of Experience" to be an excellent book/DVD combo intro to NLP. It is co-authored by David Gordon and Graham Dawes.

Harlan Kilstein just recommended a NLP DVD set ("Therapeutic Metaphor") on this board also by David Gordon. Here is a link to Harlan's post.

Regards,

-Mike

A good comprehensive book - it covers virtually all the NLP techniques and it's easy to read

"The NLP Workbook" by Joseph O'Connor

It would be worth getting "Introducing NLP" also by O'Connor as well.

Default NLP ... Hypnosis ... Altered State - 09-30-2006, 09:21 PM

There are many books on the subject. I have MANY of them.
You mentioned selling, not therapy, so I would assume you want to cut -to-the-chase and make some money.

My one Suggestion... Joe Vitale Is "Mr. Fire" for Copywriting, Promotion, and Marketing Consulting is your BEST resource.
