Question Sexual Healing And Other Mood Music - 09-15-2006, 06:11 AM

Music plays an important role in our lives. It can lift us up when we're feeling down.

It can inspire us, when we feel uninspired.

For example, when I'm in a romantic mood, I like to listen to the sensually erotic "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye. Or "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" by Barry White.

When I need inspiration, I listen to the powerful soul anthem "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" by McFadden & Whitehead.

When my energy level and enthusiasm are low, listening to "ABC" or "The Love You Save" by the electrifying Jackson 5 will re-energize me.

What about you?

What are your favorite songs to listen to that reflect your various moods?

I'm not necessarily talking about music to work by.

I personally can't write, when there's music playing.

I'm talking about the kind of music you listen to when you're just chillin', away from the computer, at home or cruising in your car.

What songs do you listen to when you're happy or sad, or angry or mad...or just chillin'?

Let's see...

When I'm in an upbeat mood, I almost always listen to something that get's the blood pumpin'... Mary J Blige, Jay Z, Beyonce.

When I need some inspiration, or a pick me up, I almost always listen to Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Ty Trivett(sp?), & Mary Mary

No romantic/Love songs for me... "And I'm so sick of love songs, so tired of tears...."

Cy, thanks for your contribution to this thread!

Sounds like someone's had their heart broken a few times.

For what it's worth, you're not alone!

I have to confess that music make me relax then lighter and then sad, I don't know why?

but here is some of my favorite music:

Janis Joplin, Aretha franklin enjoy tolisten them they make me dynamic.

Cesaria Evora make me so relax.

Joe co_cker make me move my fingers unconsiousely. (funny the editor make ellips on ****er )

Queen, U2, gunsand roses, Nirvana, ACDC, Pink Floyed... make me smile and jalous for not beeing in one of thier Gala or show.

Black bird, luis amstrong, Keith Jarret ... make a child smile in my face.
Jhon lee hooker, Muddy water, BBking make me dream about mississipi ..

All good music and some day I will send you some of my country.

and the last one make me in trouble Barbara Streisand (MrSubtile no comment oki )

The beginner.
(Time to take some actions)

It's not just MrSubtle you're in trouble with!!!
Like Dale, I can't write with music on. I can't help but sing along... and end up writing the lyrics.

I like hearing things I've never heard before... or songs I haven't heard in a while. I can't stand listening to a CD over and over... or songs 2, 3 times a day on the radio.

Lately, I've been subject to the torture of kiddy music on REPEAT. Hi 5, Wiggles, Hooley Dooleys (Aussie only I think), Bananas in Pajamas (is that just Oz too?) HELP MEEEEE!

Two words, baby--Van Halen.

Nobody pumps me up like my all time favorite rock band. Toss in some "Unchained" or "5150" and this Bird's ready to fly!

A close second is "Roll With The Changes" By REO Speedwagon (I know--severely dating myself here). Timeless classic rock with an inspirational message.

When I'm feeling spiritual, it's Michael W Smith. When I'm mellow, it's Jim Brickman or George Winston.

Me, I love to listen to music (not songs) when I read or write. Anything classical when I'm reading. But when I'm writing...it's jazz. Especially New Orleans Jazz (in fact I'm listening to some right now...Ahhh).

Otherwise I'm a Classic Rock and 80's Rock nut...and a talk radio junkie.

I thought it might be fun to dust the cobwebs off of this thread.

Anyone else care to post their favorite mood music?
