Wink Any Fantasy Football Players Here??? - 09-08-2006, 10:22 AM

Finally... The season has started.

I'm thinking of starting Fantasy team this year but not sure if I should go with the leagues at ESPN, Yahoo, or ???

Anyone here have a Fantasy Team? Any recommendations on where I should start? I'm playing catch up as week 1 has already started.

Ohhhh Peyton...where are you????

I've never done fantasy football. But I am a HUGE NFL fan. And I gotta say...

There is nothing cooler than a gal who likes football!

Well, it's probably a little late to start in a league this year, as the first season game was last night.

However, I've been in a league for the past 6 or 7 years, and I love it (last year I came in 2nd place, whih is the closest I came to winning the big pot). We use sportsline.com, which isn't bad. In years past we've used the NFL site and Yahoo. Sportsline now sends you a draft day kit with a wall poster and stickers for every player, which makes it easier to see who picked who.

Plus I like the real-time stats, which is nice on Sunday with my wireless laptop, hanging out in my living room. We pay a little bit extra for that, but it's more than worth it.

John

Haha! "cool" ain't the word, fo'shizlle

BTW - My three biggest football fantasies are:
  1. My wife doesn't beg me to go shopping right before the game starts.
  2. There's cold beer in the fridge (sorry Britts... I like it "cold").
  3. David Carr from the Houston Texans, doesn't get sacked... like he has a "bazillion" times before.

Steve,

Peyton got clobbered by the Steeler 'D' last year. Are you sure he's your choice? Be better with Big Ben. Peyton's also going to lose to little bro this weekend.

Thanks, John.

I did decide to go with Sportsline. It was really easy. Yup...I lost a week. My draft isn't until the 13th but my players are ranked and ready to rumble.

Hey Susan!

I had no idea you were into football... but then again, you must have used this knowledge to your advantage while selling Lear Jets to millionaires!

I'll tell ya... when I was growing up as a child in New York my favorite team was the Steelers.

Looks like they are definitely off to a great start this year.

Can't wait to see the two brother playing against each other... almost as exciting as the Superbowl (yeah, I said "almost")

At least they won't have a bunch of lame advertisers spending a bazillion... no, I stand corrected -- a "gazillion" dollars on silly, do nothing commercials...

Oh Oh, I feel a new thread in the makings from our good friend Dale King!

By the way, anyone reading this post is more than welcome to listen to Susans awesome interview here.

I loooooooooves me some fantasy football. A buddy got me into a salary cap league 6 or 7 years ago and since then I've been hooked. Went 15-1 last year and finally won a championship.

FF makes it so much more fun to watch. Now you've got a vested interest in lots of games instead of just your favorite team. And with Sunday Ticket, you can watch a bunch all at once. I'm thoroughly convinced that ST is God's gift to mankind.

I limit myself to 2 leagues or I'll spend way too much time figuring out who to start and not enough time working on client's copy.

Sportsline and Yahoo both have their advantages and disadvantages. I'm in a league with each. But if you want the best site for FF info, you can't beat footballguys.com. Costs $25 a year, but you get tons of info, stats, and insights each week.

BTW...speaking of God, I know without a shadow of a doubt that the Chicago Bears are his favorite team. Which makes the Green Bay Packers the spawn of Satan.

Bear Down....

Da Ba-uhs, huh? 'Fraid I'm a Saints fan. Been trying to kick the habit of 30 years and I'm hopeless.

We just got Michael Haynes from you guys. Good, bad? What do you think, jbird?
