Curious to know what do most of you do for healthcare insurance? Being self-employed has its benefits, but some drawbacks too...

Please share any ideas on what you do to make the transition easier...

thanks.

Already married...and she woke me out of my sleep earlier this morning screaming in shock with this dripping stick in my face "I'm Pregnant!"

then I rolled back over and fell asleep until I realized I wasn't dreaming!

I think we're missing the point. He may not want a wife working and raising a kid part time.

Carl,

There are associations that offer health insurance to self employed people. A quick Google search should give you a long list.

And Congrats!!!

I second health insurance through http://www.nase.org/ -- I've had medical, dental and accident insurance through that association since 1996. I pay a little more each month, but there are ways to have your company cover a percentage.

You also want to look at Health Savings Account (HSA) programs too. Your best best is to talk with a few insurance agents (starting with the one you got your liability and business insurance from.) Compare all packages available for your situation.

Congratulation on the good news ...

Sincerely,

Justin

OUCH....your right. Rude of me to say Marry Well. Just cause I never touched any step kid diapers, doesn't mean everyone gets the same experience of skipping those years. But one time I fed the dog way too much greasy fried chicken skin. Kind of like a newborn, except the explosion was outdoors.

And, of course you're assuming that everyone is going to get married.

If it's not realistic to get married, then the advice "marry well" is not terribly helpful.
