I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and not one to believe them easily. But lately, ever since the Martin Sheen interview, I've been extensively looking into the mounds and mounds of evidence, scientific, eyewitness and otherwise, that prove, in my mind beyond any doubt, that 9/11 was a hoax. Not the deaths and destruction, of course, but that it was the work of Al-Quaida.

I don't know. And I don't want to get into a political debate or blame anyone... just asking questions.

I haven't looked into this, but my "knee-jerk" is that theories claiming 9/11 are a hoax can be debunked in the same way that anti-evolutionist claims are.

However, I'm going to look at this, and see how strong the evidence is.

You have a body of scientists and physicists, who "dissected" the entire event step-by-step, and presented their findings to academia and others -- with no conspiracy theory, no bias, no finger-pointing, no opnions... just facts, analyses (based on pure physicis) and unanswered questions.

The bottom line is, there are way too many "coincidences" to ignore.

There are definitely a ton of unanswered questions about that day -- there are a lot of theories, ranging from very plausible and reasonable (IMHO) to fairly unhinged and over-the-top. The problem is, anyone who questions the official version automatically gets characterized as a paranoid wacko.

(That's another conspiracy theory -- that the most wacko theories were put out there deliberately to discredit the people asking reasonable questions!)

The whole thing was just a little bit too convenient right from the start. (and I shan't say why for fear of being political, although quite how one can avoid it, I don't know).

Even if Al Qaida really were behind it, I suspect that someone in the CIA or Rumsfeld/Cheney's departments knew about it and "allowed" it to happen.

Finally a voice of reason.

I've contended all along we were not told the 100% truth of what happened on that day.

I mean seriously, guys with box cutters?

I'm also convinced the truth will come out eventually. Those videos and links make for some fascinating viewing.

There are a few problems with the conspiracy theory. And call it what you want, but saying the events of that day aren't what we were led to believe, and that the truth is being covered up, is the definition of a conspiracy theory.

First, there are far more experts (one a French architect in Paris) who says the evidence definitely leads to the official story being the true story.

Second, Bin Laden and Al Qaeda admitted to doing it.

In situations like this I rely on Occam's razor theory.

For the record:

Kennedy was shot by a lone gunman. This has been proven beyond all doubt, numerous times now.

I also want to add that I really hope we're not to the point of bestowing any credibility on hollywood stars. I work here. I know many of these people. By and large the public part of the entertainment community is populated by morons. Producers and writers can be a bit smarter, but if you considered every "movie star" to be an imbecile, you'd be right more than you'd be wrong.

The phrase "conspiracy theory" (like so much of the language) has been debased in public usage to the point where it's shorthand for "fringe wackos." A "conspiracy" could be anything; even if the official story is true, that means there was a "conspiracy" to hijack planes and crash them into strategic targets. No matter what version of events you believe, there was a conspiracy somewhere.

I agree, but I don't think anyone in this thread has mentioned anybody from Hollywood yet -- we're talking about unknown citizens doing their own research and asking reasonable questions.
