When I asked the question, "who is the owner," I got responses ranging from "I can't tell you,"

Business owners have people trying to sell them stuff all day.
Sometimes, I feel like more people are calling me, trying to sell me something, then people calling wanting to buy stuff. It can be irritating.
Some tips:
*Be polite. And if you get turned down, look at it this way, you're just one more step closer to a yes, thank the person and move on.
*and if you can get the business owners name before hand, that will help too. then ask if "his/her name is in"
*Don't buffalo or b.s. the owner, they are busy. Be honest and helpful.
*Have a good opening line. Not just Hi I'm so-and-so and I'm here to sell you something. Something like "If I could show you how to increase your sales by 20% to 50% in 30 to 90 days, would you be interested in hearing more?"
*Ask good questions about their business. Examples: How they advertise, how they collect customer data, what's the average purchase amount, how often do customers visit your store, how many sales does your website make, etc.
* You might have to find out what days are the slowest, make an appointment, then come back.
*keep following up and pay attention to the feedback you get and constantly re-adjust your approach, based on your feedback.
*once you start getting clients, then you can do referral and endorsement marketing (the easiest form of marketing)
I'm sure I may have forgot a few things.
