Default Meet My Grammar Guru - 06-11-2008, 12:59 PM

OK, here's the truth.

I stink at spelling and rarely check my grammar.

And over the years, people have written to tell me of my most glaring mistakes.

When it happens to me, it's one thing.

But when a client catches it...

Get the picture.

It's not pretty.

So recently, I've begun using Danielle as my grammar guru.

She knows about copy and when the grammar is intentionally incorrect.

And she knows when it is a faux pas (she's in my office because I never could have spelled that correctly.)

She charges $100 to proof a sales letter up to 10 pages.

No this isn't an affiliate deal.

Just to be helpful.

She's quick and can turn things around pretty quickly.

Oh, she majored in English and graduated a 3.91 sumna cum laude so she's pretty smart.

Play nice.

Great resource. Maybe this should be in the critique section as a pre-req to posting. It would save some of us critiquers (word?) a lot of typing.

Luckily I have a live-in spelling/grammar checker also with a Masters in English Ed. who doesn't let me get away with anything. She's slowly starting to understand the intentional mistake but it no less disgusts her... like this sentence would...be...ish. Cheers

I've been telling my wife for a couple months now she should get into this business. She's a teacher with an emphasis in reading and writing, so she picks it all out. Would be a great summer job. Plus, she reads my stuff so she's getting the hang of this copywriting thing. she'll even comment on my double-readership path sometimes!

English is my second language. I know my grammar has been a big thread in my posts. But, i decided not to care about it at the moment until i have become totally "write online to earn a living" stage. Currently, i am just started to write online and try to earn some money with my spare time. So, i don't bother much about grammar.

The same with me, but I actually figured out that if I write sales letter even it has not the 100% english school grammar, as long it brings over authentic and honest messages, they always get heard and appear to more human!
