Dean who is a member here, read of my difficulties of producing eBook and
very kindly offered to do my eBook in pdf with active links etc, he did MORE than that, he has has produced a top quality 100% proffessional looking eBook which I am now not only VERY proud of but would feel more confident about charging for.

Before I felt my effort was so unproffessional despite my all singing all dancing eBook software that I had no choice but to give it away free.

Check this pdf out that Dean did for me and you will understand why there is VALUE in paying someone with his skills to do the work for you even though allegedly it can be done in minutes yourself.

Compare this production to the other eBooks out there which quite frankly look very 'blah'!

Note all I sent him was a very basic MS word doc and he did the rest, the layout, himself!

Meanwhile my question is, that now you have seen the difference between a pro creating an eBook and a noob (ie ME) would you consider paying to have someone else create your eBook for you?

Absolutely! I'm fininshing up my e-book in Word and have an ad on elance.com requesting this very thing. So far, I have about 10 people to choose from.

Thanks Leah -- as you've seen with what you now have, there's still a difference between an instant "conversion" and a handcrafted presentation.

The best part is, I find this fun as well as what it achieves for you. It fits very well to use my graphic design background for the current projects I do to be able to create these ebooks -- thanks again for raising the issue here on CB in the first place!!

And I'll be much more careful now in case I ever think I'm sitting on a hairbrush

How do those page headers/footers come out if you want to print? Are you able to just not print them?

At the moment the headers/footers will print -- although once I do final version (shortly!) I will have that set so that it is replaced with something that's better for printing (can be set up that way via InDesign -- I do that on some electronic pdf newsletters).

I was so pleased with my Dean Kennedy eBook I printed it out and the headers and footers look fine...no problems at all!

I now plan to carry my 'book' about with me as 'coffee morning' reading for my pals especially those who don't know what the Internet is let alone a blog or an eBook!

Well make sure you see their work! You've seen Deans, it is completely interactive. Even the table of contents link to the actual article posts!
