Default Harlan's "6 Figures In A Week" seminar - 02-20-2008, 04:13 PM

Okay ... I really don't know where to start this one. Basically ... regardless what any of you may think of his "on-screen" Board "personna", Harlan is an amazing man to spend a week with "in seminar".

Yes, he absolutely OVER-delivered!

And, although some of what we covered seemed more like stuff I will use in the near-or-not-so-near future ... none of it went "over my head", due to Doc's style of teaching. I definitely GOT what he taught. (Now, of course, I have to implement it - the crux of any training.)

I came back and got sicker 'n a dog ... so I'm doing more reviewing than writing, this week. But I have "follow-up assignments" to complete (he doesn't just turn you out on your own, at the end of the week!) ... and I'll get on them as soon as my gut (not to mention my cold) settles down.

I have never had so much knowledge crammed into my head in such a short time ... and it's all relevant ... and it's all STICKING!

So here's to Doc' Kilstein: he may seem a sourpuss around this forum ... but I'd gladly spend another week, soaking up his teachings, ANY time.

Thanks, Harlan!

Cheers -
Al

Hey Folks,

I was there too. And I second Al's remarks.

What made the event truly unique?

It's the only one I've seen which teaches to the whole person inside the copywriter and not just to the craft of stringing persuasive words together.
  • We all have inner artists that need nurturing
  • We all have spiritual dimensions that must be acknowledged and cultivated
  • We all have businesses to run which must generate leads online and in-person
  • We all need to write better and faster so there is room for a full and well-rounded life
  • There are technologies we all must stay on top of to stay in the game
  • And we must leverage all of our time and grow ever more entrepreneurial along the way.
No question, 5 days is not enough time to do justice to all of these things but we sure came close. Yeah, Harlan overdelivered - and then some... a lotta some.

There was a demanding reading list pre and post event. Incredibly worthwhile.

Ultimately, the name of the game is making even just a small part of what we learned... stick. All based on the premise that small changes can have a great impact. This is where the breadth of it all was our friend.

I met a phenomenal group of people and made contacts I am confident will last a lifetime.

What else can I say?

That's great news, Al. I look forward to your promised report in 6 months! I can't wait to hear of the success you achieve all thanks to Harlan and his teachings.

Well, now, I didn't say that ALL my future success will be due to this past week with Harlan (*grin*).

I've been soaking-up "copywriting" for the past twelve months ... and I've been in-an-out of sales and marketing in various forms for more than twenty years.

But my time with Harlan was definitely "intense" and well worth the time & money I spent. It all goes in ... gets "digested" ... and, hopefully, comes out the right end. The end that turns it all into money.

It would be an understatement in the extreme to say that I'm excited about the coming year(s). And, certainly, a good chunk of that excitement IS thanks to what Harlan showed me (/us).

As with anything else, though ... I have to implement it ... and even that should be easier, the way Harlan laid things out.

But, all-in-all (and at the risk of repeating myself) ... I'm a hell of a lot more excited, knowledgable, and (dare I say it) "competent" thanks to five days with the Doc.

You WILL get your report.

Cheers -
Al

Hi Al & Eric,

It was a pleasure getting to know everyone last week. I keep thinking how hard we all worked, yet I had an absolute blast.

As someone who is new to writing sales copy, I believed I would walk away with great copywriting knowledge. I was concerned that I would not know how to apply it - how to build my business. I was worried for nothing! Harlan laid out the steps for each of us to build a six-figure copywriting business. And they are completely doable!

I knew from the time and effort he had us invest before it even started, that Harlan was serious about delivering what he promised. There was no "rah rah" fluff, it was solid content all the way through. On my own, it would have taken me years to gather the huge amount of knowledge (& contacts) I now have - all from one seminar. I plan on having a front row seat at all of Harlan's future seminars.

I am thrilled that I made this investment in my success. It was worth every penny and more!

Thanks Harlan!

See you next week!

The problem with a challenge like that is that you sent it to the guy who wrote this:

Quote:
You know in your heart ...

"Your marketing can be better ...
your results can be better ...
- and -
your PROFITS can be better!"
NOW ... if you're ready to do something about it ...
You have to admit...he had a good idea of where he was going before he started with the doc. I'd bet my left arm that he doesn't need anything more than a few pep rallies to get his ball rolling and make six digits within six months.

Now I'd like to see the results from some of the noobs who attend the seminar.

Um ... wow. Eric ... THANKS!

Really, you threw me for quite a loop, there. (*embarassed l'il grin*)

Quite honestly, though ... it's not my "writing skills" that I went to that seminar to improve. Oh, I know they NEED improvement, still ... but practice, practice, practice ought to get me there.

(And, if there's any senior writers/marketers on this board with "overflow" needs, who'd like to see some samples and maybe give me some of that practice ... wink, wink ...)

It was primarily all that "other stuff": marketing myself, and getting a crash course in a lot of the things that I never had to think about, when writing magazine articles.

Again ... I'm glad I went. I got a lot out of it! And, if you consider me something other than a "noob" ... I guess I'd sound pretty goofy to argue the point! There were, certainly, a few participants with even less under than their belts than my little bit (um ... don't go anywhere nasty with that line) ... and every one was excited about what was covered ... and in a way that didn't seem to go over ANYone's head.

And, um ... yeah ... thanks again, Eric. That was really cool of ya. Even as sick as I am, this week ... your words made me feel pretty darned good.

Cheers -
Al

Eric does have a point, though.

It would be interesting to get more feedback on this from others.

In the video promoting the seminar, Harlan said,

"You may very well have a high paying client before you leave the seminar."

Did any of you get a high paying client during the week?

Also, are any of you "cranking out great sales letters not in weeks, not in days, but in hours?"

Hi Rezbi -

I'm not sure how many of the attendees are active on this board.

I can say that they were an enthusiastic group - many of them brand
new to copywriting - who devoured everything Harlan taught.

Success mindset, marketing yourself, client negotiations, swiping,
and strategies for weathering the slow periods - he covered it all.

Harlan had asked Anthony & I to be available to help them with their
assignments and keep them focused & on the right path. I've gotta say,
it was one of the most rewarding weeks I've ever spent. It was
exciting to watch everyone "get" it over and over throughout the week.

Harlan gave homework assignments every night - and virtually everyone
participated and were able to get immediate feedback from us on their
work. Here are some pics of what the Bar looked like while we
were there Catalyst Copy-vegasbar - I'll probably leave them
up for another week.

Of course, as with any seminar, what matters most is what you do
with what you've learned when you get home. There were a range of
folks - retirees exploring copywriting as a next career option, single
parents with a LOT more going on in their lives than starting a new
business, and of course people who are eager to escape the confinement
(and "security") of the corporate world, and some working copywriters
ready to take it up a notch.

It will be fun to watch everyone join the ranks of professional copywriters -
and each and every one of them are capable of taking the copywriting world
by storm.

Best regards,

Leah B. Carson
