Default knock your competitors out in 30 seconds... - 10-11-2007, 12:48 PM

I've been positioning clients against competitors for years using a "secret formula" called the Exclusivity Funnel".

It's been very effective and works for most products/services.

This is the first time I've wriitten about it publically. I struggled with letting it out of the bag or not... but here goes -- you can access it here...

And no, there are no sign up forms, squeeze pages or obligations to access this one.

It's funny how many are telling folks that there is no opt-in or squeeze-page or anything else when it comes to claiming an article of interest.

The aggressiveness of marketers is in many ways backfiring on us.

I'm shocked at the percentage of people that will give me their credit card number over the phone but not their email address. Obviously a result of the "spam age". Many are just petrified to hand over their emails.

I guess it's another sign in the direction of having to rely on direct mail in order to stay in contact with your customer/prospect.

Michael,

Sad but true.

After years of a "free ride" I'm moving many of my clients back to "real, live Mail" the kind our ancestors used to send in envelopes.

I've warned one client in particular that they had become overly dependent on email communications with their 10,000 customers worth $395 a year each to them in renewals.

It's crazy, but they could never getting around to actually mailing their client list - even as email open rates were plummeting.

So...your right! Marketers are reaping what they've sown.

Yes, thank you.

I can see how that concept would work in my business - I will give it a try in my next campaign.

Nice article, thanks.

I must have already learned something similar somewhere, probably from Dan Lok. I say that because I just did a piece the really played up the exclusivity angle, not exactly in the funnel manner you describe but close.

Thank you Robert.

I can sure use that with a program that has stiff competition with products far inferior than mine...

Great!

Excellent article, Robert. Worth some "rep power".

Great article Robert!

I've of course heard about the exclusivity angle but never picked up
on the "funneling" concept. Great explanation of the psychology as
well--you are doing the thinking for the client which is what you want
to do in any kind of copy. (Well, at least guide their reasoning pathway.)

Thanks,

Ray L.,
