Affiliate Management:
Third Party or Self-Managed?
Somehting Think About...
While I can't speak for JROX.com (or, for that manner, PayDotCom.com, since I have yet to start my affiliate program), if I understand JROX.com properly, it's software that you download to manage your own affiliate program.
PayDotCom.com, on the other hand, is a third-party affiliate management system.
The reason I'm creating this post is to present a factor to consider when starting your own affiliate program, that is:
Third-Party, Or Manage-It-Yourself: It's An Issue Of Trust...vs Maximum Profit Margin
One of the very first Internet Marketing e-books I ever bought and printed was Stephen Pierce's The Whole Truth. I think I was in Alaska at that time.
Anyway, I remember Steve told us some stories of how he had been ripped off by some affiliate managers who ran their own affiliate programs. The affiliate managers essentially didn't pay Steve for the traffic and buyers he had driven to their sites.
Steve then promoted the presence of a third-party affiliate processor, such as Clickbank, as a way to ensure that affiliates get paid by the third party, which has a neutral interest.
But,
You Can Have Both Trust And Maximum Profit Potential
I'm not implying that those who choose to manage their own affiliate programs are less trustworthy than those who use third parties--the smart thing about using your own affiliate program is that you don't have to pay a high percentage to the third party. And if you earn your affiliates' trust over time, then you're
smart to go with your own self-managed affiliate program.
I hope this helps.
PS: In referring to my previous post (and to prevent any more misunderstanding), one needs to look at the first post in this thread: omamit asked Michel which affiliate managment software he thought was best. Since Michel's testimony is on the home page of PayDotCom.com, I thought it appropriate to have him see Michel's testimony, and have omamit review for himself.
Since I have not used any affiliate management software/service yet, I am not in a position to give any reviews.
Yes, that was an affiliate link of mine. I took the effort to point something out to someone, and hence, I deserve the credit.
PPPS: But this is something about a thread that started in May, so let's not get too carried away.
