Default About the "Gray Hair Everywhere" story - 01-26-2007, 06:32 AM

JP Maroney here... with a quick story:

Back in the mid-90's I was in the magazine
publishing business. I owned a company that
published a magazine targeted to the 50-Plus
market.

Some idiots called it the "senior market."

Nothing could be further from the truth!

Long story short -- I fell in love with this
demographic. People "50-plus."

>>> Rapidly growing.
>>> Flush with cash.
>>> Willing to spend.

I was SOLD on it.

Anyhow... our publication was well-loved and we
attracted a lot of really good advertisers to it.

People who -- like me -- understood the
importance of "reaching out" to the 50-plus crowd
with their products and services.

At around the same time, I had joined
"Toastmasters" through the recommendation of a
close friend.

My goal: To improve my public speaking skills.

As I got involved in Toastmasters, I discovered
that I really enjoyed speaking.

I put together a speech called "Gray Hair
Everywhere: How To Profit From The 50-Plus
Market."

And my life changed forever.

I started going around to every group that would
have me -- delivering that speech.

Chambers of Commerce breakfasts and luncheons.

Rotary Clubs. Kiwanis. JC's... ACs / DCs...
... you name it.

And a funny thing happened.

Every time I would give that speech, people
would come up to me afterward and want to talk
about buying advertising in the magazine.

Here's the kicker -- I NEVER "Sold them"
advertising during my speech. In fact, I only
briefly mentioned the magazine.

They were attracted by what I had to say about
the opportunity of the "50-Plus Market."

And, therein lies the secret.

Selling By "Speaking"... on something that
people want.

I literally fell into the idea of "Speaking To
Sell" -- products and services.

There's a lot more to this story, and also what
lead me into a six-figure (later seven-figure)
speaking business after I sold my magazines in
the Summer of 1999.

You can listen in as I "TELL-ALL" on the replay
of my teleseminar, "The Pitfalls and Profit
Potential of Public Speaking" here:

Replay and Handout!

Then...

After you listen to the recording, if you'd like
to discuss how you can use "Speaking" to sell
more of your products or services -- plus have a
TON of fun in the process -- submit the "7
Question Application" you'll find at:

7 questions

Talk again soon...

Yep, Jeffrey Gitomer has piked the same thing in his Little Red Book Of Selling. No doubt this is great advice, but there is a huge BUT in there for the majority of us.

Thanks for the pdf and mp3.
