Default How to use Testimonials to make the sale.... - 12-12-2005, 08:14 PM

Here's two ways to use testimonials that I know for a fact will help turn out the sales like clockwork!

The first one is more difficult....

1) you try to secure testimonials from experts in the field. If they are well established experts whose names many people will recognize, getting them on your site is like winning the lottery. But they get tons of offers so you have to really get to know them, or even brib them if you want to have a shot at getting their help.

This one I like....

2) I found out there's a simplier way that works just as good. The key is to get lots and lots of testimonials. And long ones too! For example I'll give you a real live senario on how I'm using this right now...

Step 1) I start by giving away my product which is a 1215 page course all about Internet Marketing. Infact if you own a website you can download a copy right now at: (blocked by moderator)

Step 2) I secure the readers testimonial by making it easy for them to submit one using an online form. They don't even have to email me.

Step 3) I offer them not only the course free, but a free link to their website which appears on my index page with the testimonial. To see an example go to: www.sellingwhiz.com/index.htm#t

So as you can see website owners are more than happy to give me testimonials because they're getting my 1215 page course free, and they're getting an index page link displaying their website. And all they have to do is write up a few paragraph testimonial.

Now I should mention a few things. As a rule of thumb when you're trying to get the testimonial keep in mind that people are generally lazy! If you give away you're item first and then ask for the testimonial people are so lazy that often they won't bother. Everyone's just too busy these days to somehow come back later and give you that testimonial. So one method I use is I ask them to give me one first. Then I say that I won't post it until after they get my course and they've had a chance to read it over. Then I tell them that they can modify it later as well if they want. That way you're sure to get the testimonial.

This is a great way to get lots of testimonials on a new site if you're just getting started. Then overtime as you're site increases in popularity, you may feel like replacing some of the solicited testimonials with unsolicited ones or simply ones that are better.

The key to using this strategy is to get tons of testimonials. I'd recommend getting at least 100. I know that sounds crazy but it virtually always eliminates any possibility in the readers mind that the testimonials could have somehow been faked.

Matt - Thanks for sharing your strategies.

They seem to work well.

Only one thing: now that I know how you get your testimonials, I wonder how many of them were written without ever reading the book.

Which means I don't find your testimonials credible.

On the one hand - your strategy gets you a lot of testimonials. On the other hand - it makes me feel like the testimonials aren't authentic.

What's your take, Matt? As a potential customer, am I coming to a wrong conclusion?

Ryan

Matt,
I just want to know what products/services did you sell to get so rich?
Do you have some sites I can look at?
Thanks.
Matt
