Default Promoting Affiliate products offline ? - 06-18-2008, 03:55 PM

I've seen a program advertised on early to rise

The Golden Backdoor

the product claims you can use classified ads in magazines instead of PPC to promote affiliate products.

I wonder if anyone here has tried to promote affiliate product through magazines, classified ads, post cards or anything other then online?

I got that e-book as a bonus when I purchased Pandora Prescription by James Sheridan. I'm pretty sure James Sheridan wrote the add copy and the e-book.

I was looking through this and it basically says, to promote clickbank (or other affiliate products) in magazines, as classified ads.

It tells you how to select the magazines, write the advertisement and place the ad. Pretty much the same principals as a PPC ad, except in the dirt world (off-line).

You set up a website that redirects people right to the affiliate product.

As an experiment, my girlfriend and I are going to try this with some pet/animal e-books from click bank.

In magazines, you have less competition then online. And if you can get a decent click through and conversion rate. It might just work.

If it does work, it might also work as post cards to people who own animals.

I haven't yet promoted affiliate products offline but this Warrior Forum thread has some good tips about that.

Thanks for the link Anita.

It seems logical, that this could work.

I've had good success with off-line advertising in my main business.

People spend most of their time off-line and the ads seem to stay around longer.

Here's a place you might checkout if you want to try the newspaper thing:
Nationwide Newspapers - Place Classified & Display Ads In Newspapers

It does seem like off-line advertising is driving a lot of online searches (tv, magazines, radio, newspapers, etc)

You can EASILY promote offline for affiliate products.

I didn't read the Warrior forum thread above, but here is my
instant idea...

1. Pick a product - Let's say... Bob Serling's "Million Dollar Licensing".

2. Sign up as an affiliate, then register a new domain name. Something like milliondollarlicensingclub.com or something similar to Bob's actual URL. Try to keep the name simple, and as short as possible. I'd actually shorten the on the fly example I just wrote.

3. Once you register the domain name, go into the control panel and redirect it to your affiliate link.

4. Go advertise that URL everywhere you can.

Bus benches
Nickel Ads
Local Papers
Anywhere you can slap a quick headline, and a website URL, you find that and test it out.

The cool thing is, for each offline strategy you implement, you can use a different URL to test it's effectiveness.

I've even thought of hiring a flyer distributor at colleges for a few days. Heck, it would be a cheap test. And if it worked in one spot, you could branch out from city to city.

I know for a fact I could write a one page letter, print a bunch of copies and walk right out onto the boardwalk and start making sales if I approached people.

I've done much harder.

Selling great affiliate products can be done in almost any imaginable way if you are create enough and willing to put in the muscle.

Not sure who wrote the copy, but I found it quite entertaining how the copywriter created this "dumb blond" character who makes you believe "anyone can do it".
