So, here is the link that Rachel provided:

And as Rachel stated, there is a lot of opportunity for copywriters in this field. While you are there reading some of it, you might want to have Cialdini's "list" nearby...and see what elements of persuasion are being used, OR Dean Jackson's Naked Truth letter:

And see if you can fill in the blanks.
Now then John,
Your post reminds me of an old saying, with biblical basis, so I'll paraphrase it for the forum...
"A Copywriter is without honour in his hometown."
Over at the Warrior Forum, some people around Ohio/PA wanted to get together. I offered to host it, even offered a possible tour of a couple of major marketing companies I work with...not one person interested. I guess if I write a 12 page "offer" and charge them 1000 bux each, I'd get a few people to come over this way, HEY, I know Akron ain't exactly anyone's dream destination...but crikey, even I can tolerate for a lunch now and then.

I love direct mail and the potential of it.
After I read The Ultimate Sales Letter I wrote a terrible sales letter and mailed an offer to about 98 people for a physical product and got one large order.
I didn't/couldn't risk a lot of money. I made a nice chunk on the one order.
Making money from a (horrible) letter that I wrote was addicting.
I wear diapers in the direct mail world, but I do love it.
PS - Sorry if I went a bit off-topic. |
Also, there are many established marketers and even one or two copywriters who WISH they were wearing diapers when their promotion, or their COPY is crappy and it turns to Sheyeet. HA!
When I'm in town, I'm very accessible, let me know when. All I ask is you buy the lunch, a double anchovy pizza from Rocco's. UMMMMMM.
