I'd love to hear your thoughts about this:

I don't see him saying anything that's different to a correctly setup "traditional" sales funnel.

He's got a book to plug and is positioning himself against the traditional funnel... but if that video is his best attempt at selling the concept then I think I'll pass.

And my bank account says the traditional model is working just fine.

I agree completely. My experience with the funnel... and why it's worked for eons... is it simultaneously weeds out non-prospects while defining true prospects and moving them alone through the selling process.

It's always worked for me. The guy's just trying to sell a book. Good luck to him.

I agree with Kyle and Chris.

And the only credibility and/or proof offered for his method so far is that he has a book published. The lack of specifics in the interview make it hard for me to think about watching any of the other videos. There wasn't even so much as a teaser.

Basically, I heard him say that allowing an untargeted prospect to wonder through they "buying" process makes it easier to forecast sales. Even though you have no idea where they're going until they tell you. Talk about a theory that needs to be backed by proof.

Lance

I'm a big fan of the funnel ever since college. Anything that brings money and beer in large amounts works for me.

Maybe I learned a different funnel but what he's describing seems to be what happens before they even become a buyer which I would call lead generation and market research, even if it's a market of 1 that being the customer.

I also don't like his use of language. He calls them the buyer and not a prospect but if they haven't bought anything, are they really a buyer or potential buyer? And isn't that the definition of a prospect?

Seems like a play on words for those not paying attention to sell a concept, which I'm all for if that's necessary, but the actual work he's talking about seems to be lead generation. Just a thought.

Hmmmm.....

The more he talked about the NEW funnel, the more it sounded a whole lot like the OLD funnel.

Default There is no "traditional" sales funnel - 05-23-2008, 07:57 PM

First unless you've worked with a truly exceptional marketer you would
have less idea than a goat what an effective "sales funnel" looks like.

And there really is no "traditional" sales funnel.

Even the most successful businesses are leaving a fortune on the
table by not having an effective sales and product funnel.

Second he really isn't saying anything new in this video.

A good sales and product funnel is driven by the prospect and the client.

You go from that prospect knowing nothing about you to your prospect
and then your client progressively gaining more trust and committing more
to buying progressively higher priced products and services from you.

Finally, and most important of all, having a strategic series of product and/or service
offers in your sales process is THE most important key to maximizing your
profits in any business online and offline.

And methods for doing this are NOT common knowledge.

And with really great marketers their backend offers, upsells, downsells,
lead generation offers, trial offers, cross sell offers etc, and overall offer strategies
aren't obvious.

In most cases you would have to spend six figures to see just part of the
upsell process.

Seeing the full picture is really difficult.

That's why I spilled the beans on this most vital area of marketing in the
Offers Unleashed product.

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh
