ive got a dedicated ip on 1shopp cart... not sure if its any better or not.
fwiw, email providers don't care or really know if the email coming in is a double optin confirm email or the 1st autoresponder or a single optin confirmation. it is the reputation of the sender/ip or copy that matters.

I think sometimes marketers are tempted to switch to single optins to give themselves a false sense of accomplishment. If the dude won't (or can't) confirm, then it's a waste of bandwidth to keep sending them your newsletter, IMO.
