Actually, they've been a public company for a while. That means they hold quarterly meetings to talk about earnings. And THAT means they are going to start caring, even if they don't now.

It ain't just me, Alex. It's tens of thousands of advertisers that would prefer not having their ad budget pissed away on non-relevant keywords.

Wow, you mean there are agencies that just spend their clients' money and have absolutely no accountability or even a slight curiosity about best practices?

Whoa, I'm gonna have to let that one sink in.

Sonia - it's better than that. These marketing agencies are spending their own money without a clue!

it deserves a double

I suppose you're right Bruce. At some point in time, the pressure from Wall Street will pierce their shield of idealism. But don't expect it anytime soon.

Frankly, Alex, I don't understand your entire purpose in derailing the thread to point out my relative insignificance compared to Google.

The point was to discuss Google's new "Automatic" advertising which chooses an advertisers market for them, and spends client money they had earmarked for certain keywords, on unauthorized keywords.

Secondarily, how hypocritical it is to run my ads on non-relevant keywords when, if I choose to do so, am severely penalized monetarily and ultimately, my ads are killed.

I've never understood the bitchfests that go on about
Google.

I can't think of one company that has made me, or my
friends more cash then Google.

Even when they killed a 6 figure income stream for me
overnight I didn't get riled up. In fact, I don't even think
I yelled. There is just too much love for Google, and any
pessimism towards them is just counter productive in my
mind.

I love Google no matter what, and will just adjust to whatever
their rules are.

And in the meantime, the competitors are going to be crying
and drowning in their own tears as I'm pouring nice cold micro
brews atop of my pile of money.

Google ain't no dummies.

There is a reason they became a "VERB" and totally dominate
the search industry.

Basically, what this does is run your Adwords ads for keywords you have NOT targeted. Everyone OUTSIDE of Google agrees that this is simply a means to deplete any surplus daily budget in your account.

Of course, that's not what Google claims. They say it is intended to deliver additional traffic.
If they're smart, they will make an option that advertisers can turn on or off. Otherwise, they could get hit with a class-action suit.

Last time I checked, spending a client's money that's earmarked for one marketing campaign on something that they didn't approve is FRAUD.

But again, I'm not a lawyer nor do I offer advice like one. I'm merely sharing my opinion.

My 2 cents,

Mike
