I saw this resurrected thread and thought I'd add something that you don't often hear people talk about. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen an
SEO expert mention this. Could be because they're keeping secrets. Could be because they honestly don't know. But here it is:
OLD DOMAIN NAMES
Find a domain name that was in any way connected with copywriting (or whatever industry you're in) and buy it. You can check on its history at archive.org. Then look for links to the page. If it has a somewhat solid history, with a few good links to it, you'll probably get some traffic just by buying it and putting a few good articles on it...maybe just one sales page.
You can also try buying domains that aren't being kept up by their owners. I mean if a guy abandoned his first ever 'online business', he might be willing to sell the domain name for a few hundred to recover some of his losses.
And finally, try to find generic domain names that people are likely to type into their browsers (like copywriters.com). You'll pay a lot for these, but they'll give you traffic that won't ever die out...even if the search engines don't like you.
