Default List or list broker question - 01-18-2008, 10:48 AM

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this.
Hope someone can help me out on this.
I'm working on a campaign for a propane heat distributor to generate leads.
I'm looking for a list of propane heat users by county (preferably) or by zip code.

I've never worked with a list broker before.
Is this kind of information that's available?
I know census data collects heating source but don't know if anyone can collect that kind of info.

I have inquiries in to Melissadata and Infousa.
Thanks in advance.

My guess is that you have 2 chances of finding such a list... slim and none... with it leaning heavily towards NONE.

I was hoping that my chances would have been better.
I'm sure you're right.
That would have been too easy.
Thanks
Larry

Unless you partner with other companies that maintain their own house lists that sell similar kinds of products. Perhaps they'd be willing to deal re:their list.

But I agree with Subtle, sounds like it's not going to be as easy as you're looking.

Thanks, John.
I guess, I'll have to get them the old-fashioned way.
By marketing.
A little slower for what I wanted but will work.

Probably slower yes but probably less expensive ultimately than doing a 1,000 piece mailing to a kinda qualified but still rather cold list.

I'd run a series of small space ads offering a free report or free something.

I've got a popular weekly here that hits 5 counties, several not in my target area.
Depending on size of ad, I can probably run for $20-$40/week.
I'll probably use Craigslist, too.
I've had some success with it in the past on other things.
Thanks for the input.
