Default How many hoops? - 12-12-2007, 12:08 PM

Hi guys,

Question for you!

I just put up a copywriting offer, and decided to ask
potential clients to fill out a survey before accepting
them.

It was on the Warrior Forum, and I write in the IM
niche... so I could have accepted clients without
knowing their exact market.

I wanted one small hoop (other than price ) to
make sure I attract the right kind of clients.

How many hoops do you put up? What do clients
have to do to work with you?

It comes down to a matter of preference for me...
I only make part of my income as a copywriter, so
I would prefer to work with fewer clients, as long
as they're the type of client that I enjoy working
with.

Cheers,
Brian

Good question.

The first hoop has to be price. If they are squeamish about paying my typically quoted fees as listed on my site, then they never bother to contact me.

The second hoop is I have some ground rules listed on my site as well. That has eliminated most of the requests for writing copy for porn sites.

I do make it a point to find out what the project is going to be, before I mention my fee. That way, if it's a project I'm either not interested in or don't feel is a good fit for my skills & interests, I can pass on it.

Hope that helps,

Mike

P.S. It was great seeing you and meeting Rachel for the first time in Baltimore this past weekend.

I would think price and then a basic list of requirements of who you're looking to work with.

I think that would be enough hoops to get qualified people, but not so qualified you won't get any response.

Plus it positions you better.
