$200 million for the slogan "Army Strong."
At $100 million a word, they must feel pretty good to come up with drivel like that in a day's work, screw accountability and results, and gleefully collect $200 million in taxpayers' money? | | | | | Banned

| Yeah, John, but if nothing else, the government is consistent.
They consistently over-pay for everything they buy!

True. With inflation, I believe the $700 hammers are now $1.3 million each! | | | | | Banned

You should have heard of this big kerfuffle that occured here in my hometown of Ottawa, Canada.
About 3 years ago, when the city amalgamated with a few suburbs, they hired a consulting firm and paid them $130,000 (I think it was, if not more) to come up with a tagline for the city.
Note that Ottawa is considered "Silicon Valley North," because it's the headoffice of many large hi-tech firms, like Corel, Nortel Networks, JDS Uniphase, Cognos, Cisco Systems, etc.
Anyway, the tagline was the talk of the town. People were up in arms. Radio talk shows were lambasting the municipal government for paying (and accepting!) such a stupid slogan.

Hey, what can I tell ya? I'm feeling a little silly today!

No where near as memorable as, "we're looking for a few good men", or "fly high, with the Air Force", but almost anything would be better than "an Army of One". That Army of One slogan has been very unpopular with the Army - promoting individualism, when the Army is about teamwork and conforming to a cohesive, united fighting force dedicated to a common mission............ Hard to believe they spent that much money on a two word slogan though, but oh so typical.......... | | | | |
