Outstanding book!

From my understanding the whole "Mr. X" thing was sort of a sham if you will by Jay Abraham to release a lower price-point product without it hurting the sales of his multi-thousand dollar products-- regardless it is a very fine book that covers many important topics as they relate to marketing and copywriting. And while it was written pre-Internet, many of the applications apply to anyone marketing via the net.

For me it's a difficult book to classify because it isn't pure "copywriting" nor is it pure "marketing" strategy. It just sorta bobs & weaves back & forth through both areas-- pretty successfully I may add. To me, Jay is like Dan Kennedy in that I believe he's "marketer" first and a "copywriter" second while I look at Gary Halbert and John Carlton and see them as "copywriters" first and "marketers" second-- I'm not sure what this last comment has to do with the book... I just felt like throwing it out there.

Thanks Michael, that's exactly the sort of feedback I was looking for on the Mr X book, actually ... I'll put it on my "buy" list!

I put Abraham's Mr. X book in the top 5 must-have marketing books. The ebook version came out a few months ago at $397 (?).

Unless you love digital, try picking up a used copy of the print version on eBay.

Two print versions I've seen -- brown cover with gold lettering and a blue cover with gold or silver lettering. Don't believe there is a substantive difference between the two editions.

Regards,

-Mike

The Mr. X book has been around for at least 8 years, I believe more like 10 years.

It's way overpriced. I returned it for a refund because I felt it didn't contain any information that wasn't already in the newsletters of Abraham's that I had read. I recommend instead Abraham's mass market book, called something like How to Make the Most Out of What You've Got.

Marcia,

I'm currently reading How to Make the Most Out of What You've Got. It's fantastic. I highly recommend it.

Wow!

Marcia that surprises me. I have both the "X" book and "Getting Everything You Can Out Of All You've Got" and honestly I found cross-over but not to any great extent that would make the "X" book superfluous. The "X" book delves into marketing strategy and copywriting techniques much more deeply than the "Getting... " book-- at least in my opinion.

I will say I didn't pay the $397 for the "X" book but bought it for about $150 on eBay.

BTW my "X" book is the blue-covered one and the earliest copyright date is 1993.

The story behind the Mr X book is true.

The book is worth its weight in gold.

Like Michael mentioned there are copies of this floating around for lower than the $397 Jay Abraham is selling it for. I got a new copy for $97 off ebay. I've been too busy to give it the attention it deserves thus far, but everything I've read about it in terms of reviews has been VERY favourable.

Just put the book under your pillow at night, and the contents will ooze into your brain automatically.
