Default [Reviews] The First Hundred Million by E Haldeman Julius - 09-07-2006, 03:28 AM

I am intending to purchase this book but before that, I don't want to have a similar "ripped off" encounter I had with Robert Collier Letter Book (don't get me wrong, there is nothing particularly sucky about this book just that it was not up to my expectations) hence would need some reviews from those of you out there who's read or this book?

Gary Halbert gave thumbs up

Dan Kennedy gave thumbs up

Ted Nicholas gave thumbs up

... what's your verdict?

I don't get it! You didn't like the Collier book which is an all time classic, and highly recommended.

What difference does it make what anyone on this board says?

Even if everyone tells you the "First Hundred Million" is the greatest thing since sliced bread, there still remains the possibility you won't like this book either.

Ripped off by the Collier book?

Even if you felt the book wasn't very good-- what did you have into it? $30 maybe?

Unfortunately if you're going to run with the "big-dogs" when it comes to learning about marketing or even marketing your own products you're going to be spending money-- much of which won't result in immediate satisfaction but will add to your education as a marketer.

I purchased this book based on Gary Halbert's recommendation and maybe it was me, but I found it a difficult read and can't say that I learned much from it.

Fortunately I purchased it on eBay and then sold it on eBay so I can't say it was a total waste of money.

If you're looking for a good classic book to read, how about something from Claude Hopkins?

Cheers!

I say "collect them all... and keep them in your library!"

You never know...

one day you'll reach a certain level of understanding where each one of these gems jumps out at you right when you need them.

Yeah, I'm a bit of an info product, classics-readin' junkie.

What else is there for ADD - OCD person to do?

I just purchased the Robert Collier Letter Book from one of the members of this board and I can't wait til it comes in the mail!

Warm regards,

Stephen Davies

My guess is that most in here don't own "The Robert Collier Letter Book" and yet will pike it because it's featured on lists of recommended books from their favorite gurus. Of those who have it, few have read the whole thing.

I would never recommend the book to any noob who is looking to build a foundation in copywriting. It's a boring read and no one writes letters like those featured in the book today. There are plenty of books in the same price range that are much much better.

You'll get 10 times more bang for your buck by reading books by Sugarman, Caples, Nicholas and Lewis.

wordsmith asked if "The First Hundred Million" was worth buying and NO ONE besides Rave and myself own or have owned the book. Yet, it's on those guru recommended lists. Why haven't ya'all bought that "classic?"

Subtle, so does that mean it's worth every dime?
