Read Clayton Makepeace's latest edition of The Total Package. It explains how to answer those questions.

Hey, great article. I printed it out and filed it.

That'll help me with my headlines and bullets.

thanks

I think this niche is intresting because of the cheating part, I really think cheating is a bad word that should'nt be used much in this copy.

Another story/hook whatever could be that you're a real detective getting cases all the time to find out if something is "hidden beneath the surface". Puts their pressures down a little bit by hearing it from that kind of view.

Like many have pointed out in this thread, finding out if someone is cheating on you is just not the right approach to sell this product.

I really dont see it as selling them a lie.. If they found out that their partner is cheating on them in the report provided, then so be it and they can deal with it then. I did not mean to say that you should give them some garbage product with air, just a little smoother guide that doesn't make them caught their "hubby in the act" .

Also, my opinion is that you DONT want to sell them the lie either that they ARE getting cheated on from the get go on your site and copy.

I bet it's quite 50/50

Anyways you gotta find that killer hook aka "The One Legged Golfer" aka Carlton --

Uh. What word do you think they are using?

Why would you want to change it.

I get the feeling you don't know this niche at all, haven't spoken to people who have cheated, to partners who have been cheated upon etc.

50% of the time a partner is suspected of cheating, they are actually cheating.

Being able to tell the difference may make all of the difference in staying or going.

It's a great niche and there are people already doing well in the niche with great upsells and smoking hot autoresponders.

But you need to use the language the client is using.

As far as the hook needed, in this niche, the emotions are so strong that all you need is to point them in the right direction.

I wouldn't spend much time on uncovering a hook.

Are they or aren't they may be enough....

Ok sorry, snapped that up now, english is my second language you know. And sometimes I know the meaning but can't really grasp the "big picture".

Have a good day!

You could use something like: 10 Ways to Know if your Husband is Still Faithful -- I bet that could work well as an article to drive heaps of traffic to your site.

Ok, I get what you are saying, and I think you are your right to some degree... I think if they are searching for "How to catch cheating husband" then they are the right target and even bad copy can sell them. If you have good copy you will sell more, and still you got to remember that most will not buy, it's like I get the feeling by your comment that this niche is so hot they convert 1/1

There is always room for improvement and testing, and testing different approaches.

Making the copy more appealing to a mainstream audience could make your
product sales go BOOM!

After all most of us are jelous from time to time (atleast if you have a hot girl by your side like myself), and some of us extremely jelous.

That's why you can take a "cheating in the past hook" and see what type of partner your with.

It was a real pleasure to read Harlans' first (and subsequent) posts, exactly on target... (also/off-topic I liked your video critique on the diet site)...the dialogue of what the person is feeling, not educating them, is the right hot approach, and the other points being made.

And shocking words like what you see on the Enquirer like "Betrayed! How To Catch Your Cheating Spouse In 7 Easy Steps" or similar may work.

Personally, I'd create products and sites for each gender, eg one for women and one for men, because there's differences that shouldn't be addressed in a generic "catch your spouse" letter, I'd target by gender.

And remember, there's different hot buttons by why people cheat, and resolutions, as in:

a) husband cheats because he's a dog / midlife crisis
b) wife cheats to emotionally escape abusive husband
c) one cheats on the other to instigate a divorce for financial gain
d) many other reasons... hard to lump together/categorize... situational etc.
e) women/men who stay in abusive/cheating relationships out of self esteem issues (whatever happened to that woman here btw?) etc..

and many many other reasons... which need to be targeted in the copy.

It's a great topic, I'd look at articles in "O" and "Cosmo" magazines for other copy hooks. It's a painful one, too, for many of us. Healing and recovery, setting boundaries (eg Beatty "Codependent No More" great book) and other topics would help folks, I'd imagine. Good luck with it.

-Ken

p.s. there's even the post-found out/now what to do about it approach, eg guide for emotional recovery, "Surviving a Cheating Spouse - How to Move On" etc approach may hit a resonant chord.

p.p.s. Why would people cheat? It just boggles the mind. If you're a decent honest person, it doesn't even enter one's mind.

Ken just doubled your business.

Like David DeAngelo getting both sides of the dating market.

A lot of meat in that post.

Peace
