How's this new Amazon-type Rotating menu look? -

Hi - I just added this to my main trading site as a web 2.0/amazon-ish flash menu animation... any feedback?
www. daytrading university dot com
It's about 1/3 of the way down the page.
Goal is to add a bit more interactivity (traders like to click!) and professional polish to the site... this is a portal type site, the main front page, so these type of catalog-category involvement devices are good to test...
comments? thanks. I'm glad I learned how to code actionscript/flash many years ago, it continues to have been a good decision, for coding vs having to always outsource.

Hey Ken,
It looks really, really good! Very professional.
Just a heads up, though: the spin rate is super fast if you don't have your cursor sitting right over it. It made me a bit dizzy before I ran the cursor over it. Maybe slow it down just a bit.

Hi,
for my selfI enjoy the concept, however I think modestely that to bring it a bit in the top may be interesting.but regarding all the others elements that have to be in the top, it is hard to find some space for this.
the design of the thumbnail is clean, the mirror effect is nice also.
now the technologie: flash+action script, the problem with those is the lake of flexibility (I mean that if you want to add a category some day you will have to rebuild the .flv) (but you can overcome this if you are using actionscript+xml).
just a note: there are several (javascript slideshow, or pictures gallery) they are realy teeny and less weight.
something build upon Jquery.

I'd suggest you view this page in several different browsers, like Mozilla. Not just on your own desktop. There are some alignment problems -- and not with the fancy flash.

Hi - thanks all for the kind words, it's appreciated.. will do re slowing down the spin rate... (though daytraders, we are like gamers, eg fast reflexes so it may be ok for that niche)... nice to hear the positive feedback!

Wow... I love that spinner! That is probably one of the coolest interactive menus I've ever seen. Yeah... too fast (even for a gamer, I think), but wow. I now have to figure out a good reason to use something like that for either a client... or me!
