Default HELP!!! What's wrong with my sites? - 01-07-2008, 11:27 PM

My wife and I have been at this for about a 1 1/2. We are getting some sales, but we just can't seem to get over the hump to make it a successful online business.

Offline we are converting 50%.
Online about .001%

Right now we are testing 2 different sites:
www.incometoday.net
www.incomerightnow.com

I designed one of the sites and my wife designed the other.

Hi Steven,

Well, right off the bat, it's too long for a squeeze page. Here's what I'd do. Get rid of everything at the top and begin with ..

For A Limited Time Only ...

Free Audio Program Shows You How to ... (fill in the blanks here)

Next, I'd write 3 short paragraphs explaining how people can benefit from what you're offering. Right now, I don't really see any benefits here, just features. Add a signature at the end and this should help capture the leads you want.

Wow! The green one with all the yellow highlighter... chunk it. It's a waste of webspace.

The other one has potential.

Here's what I see is wrong:

1. I don't believe your headline. I know you read that you must be specific but taking it to .17 cents when you're claiming $3 million is just silly.

2. Rachel is right, it's way too long. A squeeze has at the most:
Preheadline
Headline
Subhead
4-6 ultra compelling bullets about what they get
call to action

3. Way too much about you. You don't need so much proof on a squeeze page. I see "we" "we" "we" everywhere. Quit talking about you so much.

Hi Steven,

I took a look at your incometoday.net site and here's my suggestions.

* The webpage width needs to be a fixed width, rather than a percentage. I'm viewing it on a 22" monitor and it is WAY too wide. Granted, not everyone is using a big monitor but it's becoming more common.

I suggest using a page width of 650-850 pixels so they don't have to scroll sideways to read everything.

* Smaller graphics. Don't let the graphics take over the prospect's attention. You want them reading the copy, not admiring the cool looking checks on the screen.

* Don't tell them about you. Tell them What's In It For Them if they opt-in. What are they going to learn? What problems will they learn how to solve? What PAIN will they be able to decrease or get away from?

* Opt-in Box needs to be above the fold. Don't make them hunt for it.

Hope that helps,

Mike

I'm really thankful for all the responses.

Here's my delima...with both of these two pages that we just posted the two sites yesterday with the changes.

We are getting about 11% sign ups with both sites. 131 clicks with 16. 1 sale.

With the incomerightnow.com site I've been getting personal letters from people that signed up for the free report. Opening up with their stories about wanting to become successful.

We've turned clicks down to .25 cents each seems to be getting more traffic each day as the ad make it further down the keyword search tables.

My question? Do you think that one of my problems is getting a mass amount of traffic at one time, the entire story may be different?

It's not quantity of traffic... it's QUALITY. How targeted the prospects being sent to your website is. Because if you target correctly, then you position your site to do it's best to make the conversion.

Turning up the traffic is easy. Focus on getting your conversion rates up first... then open the faucet and send more traffic to the site.

If you don't, then you're pretty much wasting marketing money.
