Default Website expansion strategy - 01-02-2008, 09:30 PM

I own a business called Homeshow Daily. We are a home show that is open all year round and we offer a chance for home improvement contractors to benefit from the combined pull of about 150 other exhibitors. We recently launched our second store in Salt Lake City, UT (our first store is in Boise,ID) and we are trying to figure out the best way to expand our website. We have thought about a few options but have't decided on any one in particular. The website is:

A Home Show Every Day In Boise @ Home Show Daily Boise Idaho

There are certain parts of the site that are specific to each individual location. We have thought about creating a home page where they could choose their location but we aren't sure what kind of results those type of sites generate.

Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

I haven't read your copy completely, but there's one thing that I'd like to say.

Right under your navigational bar should be your benefit-rich headline. Let people know how your show is unique and how they will benefit if they visit your show. That should improve the readability of the rest of your copy significantly.

Hope this helps,
Dean.

Jim,

What's your website doing for you now? In terms of results?

Is it getting you leads? Is it making you sales?

If it were my own business, I'd ask myself:

1. Exactly what's the purpose of this site? (lead capture, informational, credibility builder etc.)

2. Exactly WHO am I trying to attract? (and where are they coming from)

3. Exactly WHAT is it that they want?

4. Exactly WHAT do I want them to do?

And then I'd make sure each and every element worked towards that goal--getting them to take the action you want them to take.

Right now, you've got a lot of stuff there. As a viewer, the action I'm supposed to take because I came to your site isn't clear for me.
