Default Only Truly Skilled Opinions Wanted - 01-02-2008, 09:25 AM

Well, that includes most of this forum

I am looking to get into the info business. I am wondering what kind of expert advice you have about this website and it's presentation of the product. (this site has nothing to do with me). There are MANY things I would do differently, but what stands out to you?

thanks

I scrolled and scrolled some more. It looked like a decent blog that used some video. However, I never seen a product. Just looks like he is giving free advice.

Never mind I went back and see the 2 small tabs across the top. I would have to assume that he is loosing money left and right. I would even go out on a limb and assume that he has had people make multiple visits and completely miss his product.

I even skimmed through 2 videos and did not hear a mention of the product. Only his site. Hell even the opt in is hidden on a tab. Am I missing something here or is it just the window cleaning coach that is?

Sorry, I forgot how elusive the product is. It took me a while to stumble upon it also.

I fixed the link

Okay, my take - and keep in mind I'm nowhere near this guy's target consumer...

1.) Copy format is terrible. Too cramped, too many words per paragraph, font too small to read.

2.) IMHO - way too long.

3.) Entirely too much emphasis on the author, rather than the consumer. I just don't get the WIIFM take away.

4.) Bullets are ok - but still too much "me,me,me" Needs to be more "you, you, you."

5.) No headline. What's up with the video at the top of the letter? Does he really think I'm going to just hit play before he's told me why I should?

I'm sure there's much more, but I just don't have time to go through it all.

I just found out this product will not to be out until "around" Feb!

This reminds me of a trend I have been seeing with some info marketers jumping the gun. They are in such a hurry to get that product out there that they do not build a solid base to launch it.

This product and this "coach" will fail terribly with this. Let us not even bring up how many of these "coaches" websites stink.

How can they teach us to market our business if they cannot market their own....

Default Here I am, take your best shot! - 01-05-2008, 02:29 AM

I appreciate the merciless feedback.

I am the author of this "Business Blog" under discussion
(
the guy in all those videos), and only found you guys (this forum) by checking my blog traffic stats.

I am not offended, but instead, appreciate the input.

I do, however, feel the need to explain what happened with the site.

Basically, I developed the site from day one to be FREE information only, with the goal of developing a loyal following that would come to trust me for Window Cleaning Business Advice. I then registered an additional domain name "www.windowcleaningbusinessblueprint.com" where the actual saleable product would be located, and to which I was intending to constantly push future interest.

Somewhere along the way, I decided to amalgamate the two separate projects, and so the blog is going through some growing pains as it morphs into something more than its genesis foresaw.

I had never even used Wordpress before 3 months ago, and am still trying to master its formatting and other stuff, so the "whitespace" and "font-size" is still very much in the air...

The "Me, me, me" vibe was quite intentional, and the blog itself was merely and extension of my identity on some leading window cleaning industry forums. That being said, your comments have made me wonder if maybe I've gone overboard a bit on them...

This blog was never developed to be found by non-members of the forums I am part of, but I now have the challenge of accomplishing the transition as effectively as possible, and create some kind of unique hybrid site. (blog + salesmachine!)

After all, if obscure folks like yourself have stumbled on to it somehow, and are tearing it apart, perhaps my target market is too!

You've also started from the wrong page location. The blog's "homepage" is this one : WindowCleaningBusinessCoach.com

The indexing hierarchy is a little messed up, but I'm getting it sorted out too.

From there, the 2 tabs above ( I agree, not the most COMPELLING location to click on) offer not one, but 2 (TWO) separate products, one of which is IMMEDIATELY available, and the other which I am attempting to create a bit of a pre-launch type of buzz for, with waiting lists and what not, with a launch date of Feb 1st - hardly "aeons away"...

Its not an airtight ship, but its getting there.

To sum up this entire post: You've stumbled upon my 85% completed kit car. Lots of things needing work, but it is already running around the block, and catching some eyes...

All the same, thx again for the input. It does help me think and look more objectively. This forum intrigues me.

I actually like your blog. It's a good, fresh idea for blogging. However, if you're selling a product, you might want to add a link in the sidebar.

I read a comment that your font size is too small. However, it's typical of many other blog themes.

I think you've done a good job with your theme. It's clean and the videos are part of the bells and whistles popular in blogging communities.

Some of your content is on the long side... Like I still don't know a lot of the secrets I didn't know. Just didn't want to take the time to wade through them all. You might want to consider a blog series of: Topic Introduction (day 1) , Secret one (day 2), Secret two (day three) etc. if you have a long list of information again. It will give you new content daily and give your subscribers a reason to read every day.

You should also get yourself an RSS feed. Try Feedburner and you might want to put in a social bookmarking widget of some sort. I use Social bookmarking drop down. You can find several types in the WordPress Codex.

Thx Linda.

I like the concept of "topic intro, secret one, two, etc"

The obstacle with that approach is that in many cases, I don't want to go on and on at length about particular strategies, since what I really trying to motivate them to do is invest in the PAID resources - either the Monthly dossier, or the Window Cleaning Blueprint.

So with each blog post I'm trying to introduce a strategy, talk about a few things regarding it, and then whet their appetite for more, moving them into the paid product.

I'm learning as I go, for sure, and each week the whole thing gets a bit tighter, more focused, and more useful for the user (hopefully, anyway)

Thx for the feedback and positive words!

P.S. I'm trying to add feedburner right now

Why not look at site already considered to be pretty successful like www.richcleaner.com and model your soon to be site after that?

Hey Kevin - Welcome to the forum and kudos on the good use of video on your site!

I understand it's a work in progress, but the one big problem I see with it now is this...you want me to invest HOW MUCH, with with no guarantee or testimonials from others who have used your system successfully?????

Take a look at Joe's site above and you'll notice he almost overwhelms you with a preponderance of proof with both photos and videos and that does a lot to boost his credibility.

Cheers,

Steve
