What I always love to do with these type of catalog sites... Is create one "big idea" for it and then open with a personal message from the "President" of the company that invites them to start shopping.

Basically, this means intense target audience research. What do they want? Why do people buy dog clothes (honestly, I wouldn't know if you had a gun to my head... I suppose vanity and social status has to do with it, but I suspect there's more to this)

And then build a "great idea" around it, and write up a headline that stops the reader dead in their tracks... Then follow up with the personal message from the President of the company that gives them a compelling Reason Why this is the best way to shop for dog clothes.

Then start off with 3 best deals for instance, and smaller text links to different categories. Make it easy to delve into what they need after you've established a "Reason Why"

I wouldn't push this with seperate direct mail letters as some suggest for catalog sites... but then again, I'm not expert at this, I've only done 2 sites like this so far and am working on my third.

Owner's ecstatic but no results yet... Maybe others have more experience with this

In any case.. Good luck!

Thanks for the info eric, always a help. I will look at rebuilding the home page with a personal message- maybe a real picture- and ask a few more people why they buy this type of dog clothing.

I need to find the best "Reason Why" to order. may also start tracking where visitors go from the home page and focus my google ads more (only display on google not network sites)

Also I am going to look in posting some product reviews- try and build more trust. Sleep is going to be optional.....

Hi Paul,

I'd be looking at putting in a story about someone and their dog and an experience they had wearing your dog clothes.

Then make a catchy headline based around the story.

"Fluffy Steps Out In Style"

Can You Imagine Your Furry Friend Clad In The Latest Designer Fashion Like My Fluffy?

We were a hit at the ball....

Sell how great they'll look with a well dressed dog rather than how bad they look now.

Also I'd highly recommend a real sales page with a real call to action - buy your dog coat now at this special reduced price.

And send a sales letter for another coat with every order.

I hope that helps.

Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh

P.S. One last tip. Your 7 part course is a great idea but it should be related to how to dress your dog or some similar theme leading people to
the benefits of buying your product.

You can offer the "What to do when you think your dog is lost or stolen" as an ebook bonus for people who buy your products online.
