Default My first salescopy (needs help!) - 12-17-2007, 07:11 PM

First of all... Hello everyone!

I have been looking for a place to get someone look over my website and tell me what am i doing wrong. Thank God i found this forum.

It's my first salescopy and my first ebook. The book is simply about GPT programs and how anyone can profit from them. It's basically a complete guide for newbies and people who have already made money with GPT's. I am not teaching anyone to earn loads of cash. It has to be taken as "extra income".

I have set the price very low at first just to get more people interested ($9.95) and it still has a 100% money back guarantee!

Well... right now it seems that i am not doing so good. So i would very much appreciate it if someone with more knowledge goes through the site and gives me a lot of criticism!

Here's the URL: GPT Handbook - Discover How Anyone Can Make Regular Extra Income Online!

Thank you,
Frank.

Frank,

I didn't even know what "GPT" meant until I read (pretty far down) your sales copy.

I think the dollar bills along the side are pretty distracting.

The copy isn't horrible. Yeah, the copy can always be improved but the problem in my opinion is that there are sooooooo many website promising Internet riches without lifting your finger that I'd be grateful for any sales.

I don't think it's a very good niche to be in based on the shear amount of competition you have. But if you are bound and possessed to have a product in this market I'd go the other way and create a product that sold for big bucks and not $9.95. I think the $9.95 price point makes it either appear to prospects as being "Too good to be true" or "utter crap."

Hey Frank,

I agree with Michael here. The look of the site with the dollar bills and the bright read headlines make it difficult to read and you're in a highly competitive market with lots of info about "GPT" programs available for free - so I'm not sure how many folks will be eager to pay the $10.

Your testimonials could use some work too, as they're just not believable with only a first name and a country listed. Believable in my book is at least a first and last name, plus any additional information like city and state, website address, and even a photo or audio/video clip if you want to go all out.

How are you getting traffic to your site now, and what kinds of results are you seeing with the traffic you're getting?

Cheers,

Steve

Thank you for replying!

Well, the main reason why I made it sow low priced is because a lot of people don't like the idea of paying too much for an ebook that promises to teach them how to make money.

I believe you can find out about everything for free. For example I have seen ebooks that contain pretty much the same stuff that some totally free affiliate marketing forums and such have. So I don't think it's just with GPT's but with everything else, too.

The dollar bills on the sides must go. I agree with you. Any ideas what I should put there? Actually, I have pretty much a completely new template in mind...something light and easy (also a bit smaller!)

The site became public 1 week ago. I have used some adwords ads + obeus (another PPC network).
I have also used advertising on GPT programs since my book is also useful for people already familiar with this topic. Right now it's more like "testing". This far I haven't made any sales.

You made a great point there, it's one I agree with.

Personally I wouldn't be messing around in that niche with a low-priced ebook. Even though your profit margin is near 100%, I think you're going to spend far more than that in order to acquire customers.

People like TJ Rohleder and Jeff Paul are making tons of money in the "make money" arena... however they aren't trying to use $10 ebooks to make a buck and satisfy customer's wants.

Hmm... yes, I totally agree that competition in the niche "make money online" is too high but I have narrowed it to "make money online with GPT programs". There are a lot of people out there who are making $500+ per month (which is not much but as I said it's extra money not a full-time job). I personally haven't seen e-books for this topic. This is why I figured it's worth a try. Well, there's always a chance that when nobody is doing it then maybe it's not worth doing in the first place.

Also, I believe it can be very useful for a lot of people because I made my first money online with a GPT. I had no idea what affiliate marketing was back then for example, but I still earned a bit of extra money and it felt good.

I don't want to abandon it just yet so currently I am working on a new template and sales copy. Any ideas what to change in the copy itself? I think I really need to convince people more. I just don't know how to do it effectively... What would you suggest for the new price? $19.95 perhaps? If it still doesn't work out in the end then I can always use it as a free product to send to people who sign up on a newsletter, right?

Frank,

There are two ways of approaching this market...

#1 You can try piddling around the fringes and make a few bucks-- maybe.

#2 You can potentially make much bigger dollars by really mining this niche. I'm talking using your existing product as nothing more than a lead generation product for more expensive products. Of course you'd have to become THE expert of this niche. But that's what separates most folks that make a few hundred dollars a month in niche from those that make tens of thousands.

Hello again. It's been a while now and I decided it's better to do what Michael suggested. Right now I'm building my first email list by giving the handbook out for free. Of course I have made some changes in the book itself for possible leads.

It's my first time building a list so I'm really excited! I have 2 follow-up messages and I will add a 3rd one soon (not selling anything yet, just asking for feedback etc).

Within 2 days I got 100 subscribers in my list but I'm sure it can do better. So my question is: What should I change in the new salescopy? I have used a template that one guy gave me when I joined his list, don't remember the name... :P

I think you made the right choice by giving it away free. If you really want to get into the game it's best to build up your opt in list.

But, it does have it's drawbacks, like you do not know how responsive your list might be since they really have not purchased anything from you. And if they do not like your free guide then a sense of trust is lost.

However, on the other hand, it can be explosive if the guide is great and you have given them something they see as very valuable, for free.
