PROLOGUE -
I thought of posting this as an actual plea for help. But since there's already a sticky for suggestions to those coming for a critique, I guess it would be better here. This is a sample cry for help. I dug up this letter from my long-ago archive, and am using it for a model. This is the best way to get some of the gurus to lend you their expertise. Notice the title I used for the post...it tells people from the start what I want and the kind of letter I want critiqued.

The idea is to get people to my website, and to contact me so that I can call them with a quote for my copywriting services.

I tell people what I want to get out of the ad. I'm not vague...I have very definite goals.
|
Right now, 50% of the people who see this come from adwords. I'm focusing mainly on the keywords "copywriting", "copywriting services", and "business writing". The other 50% is split between type-ins, click-throughs from forums, and natural results (I'm on the first page for "sales copy").

I try to explain how people will be seeing my ad. This is important information to a copywriter. Everything that's involved is one more number to throw into the final calculation.

The letter is posted here:

Links are usually preferable when possible. There's not always easy and we understand. But if you can, using a link makes the request more organized and not so burdensome.
|
Don't hold back...I can take what ever you throw at me. I really appreciate anyone's input. I'm sure some of the masters here can help me turn it into something workable.

Perhaps a little over-appretiative...and brown-nosey. Not really a requirement, but this has worked for others in the past.
If a few of the writers would offer some not-so-soft opinions on this, I'll illustrate a good response to critiques.
