Default Blog post for critique - 04-11-2007, 06:19 AM

I have a blog that tells my stories and advice from my life and business as a successful webmaster.

I recently wrote a blog post that had a great response.

So I thought I would put it on here and let the experts tear it to shreds

The Million Dollar Question

+++++Pointless Backstory Alert+++++

A reader emailed me a few weeks ago and said that he enjoys reading my blog, and that my style is very much like a guy called Gary Halbert.
At the time I had never heard of Gary, so I went to his newsletter site to see for myself.
I have to say that I have not stopped reading his newsletter since, and when I found out he had passed away I was well aware just how great his loss willl be.

I even put "Modesty Personified" on my blog as a little tribute to the great man.

I look forward to your feedback.

Dean

I must stress that I had a 16% response rate to this blog post. Should I take the lack of replies on this thread as a sign that the experts don't want to rip it to pieces?

I am ready, give me your best shot.

I'm not going to tear anything to shreds other than to say I saw no Gary in there.

To say that "There is information, tips and advice that can help you make a shed load of cash, but that information is NEVER shared. In fact, the people who know that information would pay huge amounts of money to ensure that nobody else finds out about it." is an insult to many people, people like Gary Halbert who shared enough information to make you rich many times over.

Not to mention many people on this forum who are extremely open.

The only people selling information that is "starting to become outdated or less effective" are those Internet marketers using "black hat" type "get-rich-quick" techniques that have a limited life cycle anyway.

The information that works has been working, and will continue to work, for many many years. The only secret is that there is no bloody secret.

I agree with this. But don't tell anyone

I agree. Gary has been a huge help to me, an inspiration.

I didn't say that people don't share information, I said that if there was secret info that could make you millions with zero effort, why sell it for $9.99 in an ebook.

But if there was such information, why not sell it?

If you believe in unlimited abundance, and you truly did have a system that would make you millions with no effort why wouldn't you sell it? It's not like you don't have the time to write an ebook, cause your system is running automatically in the background making you millions... and you'd want people to value the information so you'd want to charge something for it.

And then some people would want more than an ebook, they'd want to see it in action and meet like-minded people... so you'd have to have a seminar... and to make people value that you'd have to charge more... say maybe $3000... I see a pattern developing.

p.s. look out for my new ebook "there is no secret". It's a short read but easily the most valuable information you will read this year!
