Default Getting Started-Where To Find Work - 10-27-2006, 04:52 PM

Hi All,
I'm new to the world of copywriting, but have been reading/studying for a year now. I think this is an industry I would like to get in to. I have read the sales copy for many courses, but what is the reality? Freelancing can't be that easy? I've put together an into sales letter. If a few of you could give some response to it, like if I'm heading in the right dirfection, and where/how to find work, I would really really really appreciate it.

Much Thanks In Advance,
Tim Hoeffel

"Motivational Copywriting For Window Shoppers And Indecisive Fence Straddlers"
You need a freelance copywriter who creates marketing material that reaches your client's inner most feelings, rips them out, then puts them on a stick like a carrot before a horse, and has them thinking they can’t get to their credit card fast enough. Whoya!

You need someone who can parse your business and your customer, extract the essential elements and put that in words that communicate clear and compelling benefits for a potential or current customer. If that is what you want then skip to the bottom and call the number there so we can get things rolling. If your still not convinced, keep reading.

Because I have been studying copywriting and marketing from the likes of Dan Kennedy, John Carlton, Michael Fortin, Bob Bly, AWAI and Clayton Makepeace, you get someone initiated in the art and science of direct response copywriting. My goal for you and I is, as Clayton Makepeace says, “bigger winners more often”. For the person who is looking for a freelance direct response copywriter, you get a strategic thinker, researcher, builder of bridges and a detail oriented copywriter with a good work ethic. Is that valuable to you? Sure. But there is more…

”The "Creative" Side Isn't The "Other" Side“

Even though the artists don't know much about selling, I won't hold it against them. I used to be on that side myself (photography). They make things look pretty. I can speak "art" and "sales" so mis-communication is minimized. Good design does facilitate the sales message and makes it easier for the potential buyer to buy. What it shouldn’t do, in my opinion, is straight jacket, limit or otherwise hinder the part of the package that pays for the design, the copy. I’m looking for a synergistic effect that delivers a knock out one-two punch.

"Getting What You Want...Risk Free And Cost Free"

I will make this a completely RISK FREE offer for the first savvy agency or company who hires me. Consider this a split test with your current marketing material. I'm willing to do one spec assignment to make up for the lack of samples. If it works out, great! If it not, we move on. This is on a first come first served basis, so don't be a fence straddler like all those people who could be knocking on your door!

You will never know what you missed if you don't try it.

ü Flashes of creative brilliance
ü A bigger ROI
ü Happy clients
ü Happy boss
ü Maybe even a new control

If there was ever a perfect targeted candidate for Anghelache's course it would be you.

That being said, is this really the BEST you can do?

Motivational Copywriting?

SAY WHAT? HUH?

"I have been studying copywriting and marketing from the likes of Dan Kennedy, John Carlton, Michael Fortin, Bob Bly, AWAI and Clayton Makepeace..."

Who cares? The business owner who is getting your letter has no fickin' idea who these guys are and doesn't frickin' care.

builder of bridges?

SAY WHAT? HUH? WHO CARES.

Do you really think some business owner really knows what that means?

Who is Anghelache, and what does his course offer that others don't?

Tim,
John Anghelache is a member of this board and has an excellent information product that teaches you how to go out and find copywriting clients.

If you want to hear an interview I did with him a couple of weeks ago where he explains some of this, go and sign up to my FREE membership.

Once you confirm your email address, you will be given a link to listen to all my interviews... I believe I've got around eight or nine interviews so far.

Last weeks interview was with Michel Fortin himself.

Going back to John's course... I should tell you that he is raising his price in a matter of a few days, so you gotta move fast on this one.

Tim,

I used to be a magazine writer and I have made the switch over to copywriting. So...I had no relevent samples to show prospective clients.

I went to a small business forum and offered 1 free written page for a limited number of responders. I got a great response and I was able to be picky about the projects I chose.

Now, I have 2 sales letters, 1 press release, 1 website homepage and a postcard to show prospects. Not only do I have the samples, but I have glowing testimonials as well.

I chose not to showcase my free offer on my website because I never want the site to be associated with inexperience. I want to maintain a professional image at all times. I think you would benefit highly from taking a similar approach.

Good Luck!!
