Default I Double Dog Dare You - 10-03-2006, 02:51 PM

Hello all,

It has been awile since I have been hanging around here. It has come time again that I could really use your help though. I recently made my first ebook. It is actually some articles that I wrote and just decided that they could make a fairly good ebook so I decided to take that route.

I have put together some strait and to the point copy that I am hoping will sell my book fairly well since it has a low price tag. I usally go with long copy but decided this time to keep it fairly short.

If you could please take a look over it I would appreciate it. In fact I will appreciate your opinions so much that I will give you a copy for free. I know you guys can find something wrong with it.

6 Simple Step By Step Ways To Make Money Online Even If You Don't Have Any

Thanks

I is a breach of etiquette to "double dog" dare, without the requisite protocol of the dare and double-dare. But I guess we can overlook it.

Frankly I think we're going to hit fractions of a cent soon with these bargain bin stuffers. I think you should add margins around the content. The "product image" probably fits, but I still don't like the quality level.

Do we really need advice on selling $7 products?

I just don't know where to start with the copy. Is the reader supposed to think this sold for $47? I don't. Again, this is a product which evidences most of the problems with internet copywriting in the copy.

Thanks for your reply and overlooking my small etiquette problem. I should of mentioned it before hand but this book will be going for about $17 or $27. This is a page that will be promoted to my list.

So let me recap on your thoughts. First there should be some margin between the table boarder and the text. Second the image should look better.

Would you think it will look better without the table boarder all together? This will make it have a nice margin between the edge of the screen and the text itself. Any suggestions on the image itself? Maybe a report style kind of pic? That will make it a little more flatter. It is however close to 30 pages and in my opinion bigger than a report.

Thanks for your opinions. I will PM you the download link.

I think you're going to have a hard time justifying that price. Seriously. People will need a reason why they should even buy this. If it's only 7 dollars, what makes it worth the trouble to download?

If your list really loves you, you might get a few WTF orders, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

I've heard it said you have to work harder to sell the lower price or free offer.

Maybe charge 'em $97 and just tell them how foolish they are to pass this up.

Or use it as a lead generator and make a donation to a charity in their name.

My $.02

Thanks for your opinions. Maybe I will have to go with the origonal $27 price tag and just pitch it as that. I really cant see selling it for $97 when my market is those who are just starting out. I will send you a PM with the link.

Thanks

Hi Terry,

I'm going to have to agree with the others. I can't imagine this selling well at this price.

If it truly offers everything you say it does, it's atleast worth $27. That makes it wortwhile.

Maybe you are just avoiding writing long copy?

It's needs more specifics about what it's really offering. To help people decide whether they've already the information or not. Get them curious that this is something different that will work.

The 97% concept is good, and I'd be more upfront with.

If you even spend a few hours writing the copy, raised the price $27, you'll probably make a lot more money. Needs more details, proof, testimonials, etc.

Include an audio version and raise the price to $47 maybe?

Cheers,

John

Terry,
I know a lot of copywriters don't care much about appearance, but adding some cell padding and a background color is much more appealing and takes away some of the "newbieness" of an online salesletter.

Here's something for starters:

Thanks for your opinions John and Primo. As in reguards to Johns question. Yes I am trying to avoid writing a long copy. I usally write long copy all the time for affiliate programs and what ever else I am promoting.

So why the sudden change? I am tired of writing long copy and know that a very well written short copy could pull in sales just as well. I am hoping to start writing more effective short copy since I have little experience with it.

As for Primo. Once again you amaze me with how generous you are with your time. I agree that I will have to make a background image of some sort. Just not sure what I should do for it though. The title is way to damn big to use it in the background image. I may have to shorten it up a little.

For anybody who has already recieved a PM from me I apologize for the link not working. I am just glad I have not started promoting it yet.

Thanks for all of your help.

Hey Terry,

You know, if short copy worked as well as long, I'd be one of the first to jump on the bandwagon.

But there's an old salesman's saying that goes...

"The more you tell, the more you sell."

Just something to think about.

Cheers,

Mike

Terry, you can't expect people to read a sales letter with the salutation and 8 (or so) paragraphs CENTERED (even if Mike Morgran is going to write it).

Also, hire a PRO to design your book or box cover. Right now it screams NOOB. Put up a high quality well designed cover and you'll have a much easier time getting your $27, $47 or whatever you're going to be charging. As I recall, you can get a PRO cover designed for around $50 so you can recoup that cost in just a sale or two.

I agree with Primo, get rid of that silly background because it makes it hard to read any of your copy.

I agree with Morgan, you need a lot more copy to sell this book. Check out Bottomline's ad for THE BIG BLACK BOOK:

BIG BLACK BOOK

They've sold over 2 million copies at $30 each. Skim the letter to some part that interests you and see if the copy and especially the bullets don't make you want to order the book right now. (They even make ordering really easy since they'll send it to you without a credit card and then bill you $10 each month after the free 30 day look.)
